Vacation Food (Long Beach Island, NJ)

we were invited to spend some time at the beach with my wife's cousin and his family. We managed to find lots of great food, so if anyone finds themselves up in the northern half of Long Beach Island, let me know, so I can tell you where we got our grub.

We started at a nice fish market that sold super fresh, local seafood. Swordfish isn't something we get a lot, and it perfect for the grill (the rented house had a very new, very nice 22" weber kettle!). One of our hosts likes to make swordfish into spiedini (rolled filets with bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, parm cheese, and lemon zest).

a couple days later we went back to the same market and picked up some crab, shrimp and steamers for a crab boil. The house was short a big pot so I had to cook 24 crabs, 2 lbs of shrimp, 2 lbs of steamers, potatoes and corn in 4 pots over 4 burners

we wanted to get some steaks from what we heard was a place that had dry aged, prime meat. I'm not normally a strip steak person, but this steak looked so good and so much better than the ribs and porterhouses that I had to go with my instincts

our next beach trip is in a few weeks to Ocean City, Maryland. So, stay tuned for more cooking antics

That swordfish looks amazing!

Welcome to the Shore!

(we really try not to let people realize that it's actually a pretty darn nice place down here!)

Great pix. Nice to see our state (the shore in particular) ahown in such good light. I've always loved LBI.

Wow I feel like I've just been on a mini vacation. I really love the seafood dinner that's a great idea. I especially love the sunrise picture! ;) my buddy Mike is in LBI right now. If you run into him give him my best.

JB - as someone who grew up on the shore and lived on the beach in Avon by the Sea (a bit north of LBI) for many years, you have brought back some great memories with your excellent photos and cook. I love the Carolinas, but I miss living on the beach and having immediate access to wonderful freshly caught seafood an awful lot!

Jeff, I could just sit and look at your pictures all day as a matter of fact I am using the steak picture as my wallpaper. I can only imagine how good that food tasted. Spectacular!!!

Glad you could take some time off from cooking and working to focus more on your cooking. Is this new forum in higher resolution, or are your pictures somehow even better?

jeff, your photographs are amazing! you could shoot pics of manure and it'd look great! :D
Seriously, Great Post and Photos! And the Northeast is beautiful country with beautiful food! You got it all!!

agreed - as usual the preparation looks amazing as do the photos. The way you are able to separate the focal point from the immediate background of your close up shots is cool -

Everything looks fantastic.
I need to know the details on those Crab stuffed Clams.
Seriously, I'm not kidding. I really need to know.
