It was time to do a serious cook on my SJ-Mini, and what's more serious than Tri-Tip?

This is why I made my mini, to do the reverse cook, pull the pot and put the Tri-Tip right on the grate to sear (still bummed I over-cooked)

After resting for about 15 minutes, the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been, a considerable amount of juice still came out during the rest

It could have been worse, however it did taste great, if you like your Tri-Tip well done, it would have been your day, but we like ours medium rare and look forward to the the next time, only going to check the temp at about 1.5 hours into the cook, 2 hours was too much

And of course, there's those who don't like beef (I duno what's wrong with them) but the SJ-Mini had plenty of gas left and did a great job on the chicken after having cooked the Tri-Tip and Sasages

Sadly, Memorial Day 2014 BBQ went to the fowl, beef will have to make a comeback on July 4th.... And sadder yet, the Giants lost to the Cubbys. I've been a Giants fan for about 15 years, but I was a Cubby fan 20+ years before that. So.....I was bummed for the Giants, but it wasn't as painful as it could have been. Hope everyone had a Great Memorial Day weekend, I saw some good cooks in the various sections. :wsm:

It all looks good! We all have those moments when things get away from us. At least you have a good team in the Giants I've been a Cubs fan forever and spent many an afternoon as a bleacher bum in the late 50s at Wrigley. Now that I live in Arizona our wonderful Diamond Backs are trying to replicate the Cubs by holding on to sole possession of last place. Oh well nothing changes,

Looks great Chuck. Sides look wonderful too. Love those zucchini and potato dishes. Glad you got to see a game. I got to see parts of it on TV. They didn't fare as well yesterday against the Cubs. Oh well, can't win them all.

Everything looks good except the foot like Jim mentioned lol. I have looked for tri tip here but have not seen any.

Ya know, seeing those Italian Sausages surrounding the Tri-Tips made me a little curious.
Like how might Italian Sausage stuffed Tri-Tip be.....hmmmmm, gotta try that.
