I grew up eating hominy that my mom prepared, but have not had it in decades.
Out with the 'fries' and in with some butter, onions, and a can of drained hominy.

Tri tip cubes marinated in Stubb's Beef, and a tad of Dr Pepper.

Added lump to the burned down KB.

Kept the skewers moving for quick searing.

I knew Jo Anne would not let hominy touch her lips, so she had regular corn, leaving plenty of the puffed corn for me.
Everything was great, but the hominy was excellent and brought back childhood memories.

some dude's fry sauce on the 'fries'

I kid you not, bought it in Colorado.

Hope everyone had a super weekend!!

I know I sound like a broken record but great looking cook and pics as usual Bob!!!

I like hominy but never tried it like you cooked it. Are you just adding it to the pan and just heating it through or are you trying to get a little texture on the outside?

Thanks guys!

John,
My intent was to brown the hominy, but even though drained, there was too much moisture, and I didn't feel like reducing it down.

Today's lunch tasted even better than last night's supper.
Bottom to top: hominy, tri tip, green chile, cheese, more green chile.

looks great Bob,....Like you, I don't think I've had homey in decades...............................d

haven't heard of hominy before, sounds/looks very good!
Tri of skewers is Genius! And the skinless Hedges are soo cool! Gotta love it all!

"What The Heck Is Fry Sauce? See Back"
Well Bob...? What does it say on the back of the bottle? "See Front"?

I really love the Spudhenge. Let me provide you with a video from Norway, asking for the meaning of Stonehenge. I Hope you like it.

By the way, the rest of the cook is awesome, as well. But I guess you already know that. Thanks for posting!

That looks really delicious Bob, even the hominy! I was sorta "force fed" hominy as a child and to
this day have not liked it or had no desire to eat it. BUT, after seeing the way you fixed it, especially
how you used for lunch may have awoken the idea to try it Bob's way. ;)

My grandma used to make hominy. Was it as good as you remembered? I like the leftover bowl too.

Thanks everyone!
figures, most like the leftovers best. me too! :)

Jim,
back of the dude's bottle:
"Fry Sauce is a condiment that's made for French fries. Legend has it that some dude from Utah mixed up a batch of this here sauce and the folks 'round there went crazy for it. They started puttin' it on everything from French fries, of course, to hamburgers, chicken, fish and hot dogs. Some use it as a veggie and chip dip, some have even been known to use it as shampoo (not recommended)."

It's pretty much like mayo mixed with ketchup, chiles, etc.
not bad, but not that great either.

Also, about hominy:
"kernels of corn that have been soaked in a caustic solution (as of lye) and then washed to remove the hulls"
sounds yummy eh?

Geir,
Thanks for the video, it's a riot!
just can't get the song out of my head now.
