Total Newbie from So Cal

I've been lurking on a few sites for awhile researching what kid of smoker to buy... Well an 18.5 WSM was the ticket for me.... Bought it over the weekend and put it right to work..
Did Bacon Candy first, then a Tri-Tip on sat, then a beer butt whole chicken on Tue!! Everything so far has been fantastic.. I'm super impressed with the smoker so far.. Aside from a bad thermo in the lid!! (Weber) sent me a new one without questin...
Looking forward to learning as much as I can about this newfound addiction!! Haha...

Congrats on the new purchase Mike! I just bought WSM myself but it wont be here for another week. I looked all over for one to buy at a store but had no luck other than a store in Santa Ana that had old stock ( no probe grommet). Where did you get yours if you don't mind me asking.

On Saturday, June 21st, a number of us So.Cal. types will be meeting at the BBQ competition at Pechanga.
Also, a number of local TVWBB members who are also pitmaster will be competing at this event.
If you are free, come on down and join us for a day of fun, friendship and BBQ.

I just happend to look at the Home Depot in Corona, the one off of Ontario,, I bought the floor model. Manager gave me a 20% discount on it... (Score)!!!!!! I know the Chino Home Depot had 2 in stock... As of Saturday anyway...

I will be there for sure.. A good friend will be compeeting.. (Smokin Harts)
Thanks for the invite... Will definatly have get together and pick everyone's brains for recipes, and techniques...
 
Welcome to the site Mike! Where in SoCal? That's a big territory...as for me, West Covina High School Class of 1971!
