ThermoWorks

Also does it operate on one AA battery?
I am the guy who turns it off after every reading, I don't let it sit there on for any time.....what kind of life would I be able to expect out of the battery life?
Any input for a newbie who knows basically nothing of this brand would be helpful.
Such as calibration issues or anything like that.

I do enjoy my inkbird, its inexpensive to purchase and has has an integrated battery which I like but expect it to have a life expectancy for sure.
I also have not had to calibrate it yet in the 3 or 4 years I have had it.......and only had to charge it but 3 times.
It says 3 second readings but it feels much faster than that.
ONE uses one AAA battery.
Classic uses a CR2032 (coin) battery.
Models have flip-flopped between coin and not, one early model used a weird squat battery. Lasts "a long time".

No calibration needed unless you're working in the NICU ward of a hospital, then probably shouldn't use a probe. In other words, it is good to go for any food-related tasks.

If you're getting a Thermopen, go for the ONE for sure. For the stuff, DOTs are great for the kitchen, comes with 2 probes, but can browse the others on sale. Hotpads, spatulas and spooulas are great.

Like I said I have both like Jon wanted a spare as my wife confiscates my Mk4 on multiple occasions so I leave that upstairs and the Lightning is in a drawer in my basement bar, but many of us got a stupid deal as you can see in Jon's linked thread. If the difference had only been $22 I would have waited and bought the One on sale.

I bought that Smoke. And while I like it I gotta say the company has become an absolute pest. Between constant emails and texts multiple times a day. I had to block the texts. Enough is enough. No offense meant, but I've been getting 5 or 6 emails a day and 2 or 3 texts a day every day
My emails from Thermoworks clearly have an unsubscribe button at the bottom of the emails.

Thanks for all the replies people.
I am going to go ahead today instead of yesterday with an order for the one.
Biggest decision now would be the colour of course......my current is orange and it's easy to spot at a distance.

One in every color! :)

I color match by group - kitchen is red, grill is yellow, camping is blue. No reason for those colors specifically, but helps keep all the stuff organized.

Upon reading about what you guys said about the backing light......my current model lights up in an orange background with the LCD numbers in normal colour.....I am now used to it and like it where I see the ONE would be no background colour light up and just the normal LCD numbers to see.........at close to 30% off I am still interested...........

Thanks Chris... I will use Dan's link.....pretty sure I want the ONE. Talking myself into it, as Grant was saying earlier on.....is it really something I need.

Sorry.....
Once again I am having second thoughts......haven't been able to talk myself into the ONE yet....
I can get the Thermopro lightning at a fairly better price.

So I ask owners who have the Thermopro Lightning for their input.
From what I read it seems the biggest complaints are that it is a bit big, maybe awkward to handle.
Seems like a 10 year warranty as well....
Basically I can save about $35 with this purchase vs purchasing the ONE.

Yeah, the quality of the product is not the issue. Just the constant texts/emails. Many times if a company sends texts there is a way to reply "stop". They don't. I can't even see an "unsuscribe" link on the emails. They're honestly kinda putting me "off" a bit.
Same here! Between yesterday and today I just deleted eight emails from them and it's a daily occurrence.
Really getting old.

You could have made $35 already if you were enterprising. Just pull trigger. It’s a tool of a lifetime.
Well I am stuck at my regular job posting on the TVWBB.....so it's not al that bad.

Found this by google image somehow, Chris going over both insta's in video format.....still have to watch it.

I like them both, as I mentioned. The One feels solid and sleeker whereas the Lightning feels rugged and easier to grip. I come back to the luxury sedan vs. the Land Rover as my way to differentiate the “feel” of each of them. I can see why they provoke different reactions among people who use them.

IDK, Maybe one is a status symbol and the other just "does the job". I have 3 ThermoPro products (of the fold out "instant read" type one was the so called "wireless" multi probe unit (I hated it and gave it away). But the 3 instant reads work flawlessly. Got no complaints with any of them. The Lightning as it's name implies is REALLY fast but the other 2 respond within 1 second of the "faster 2" and all 3 totally match the reading of the ThermoWorks product I just bought. Good customer support as well. I had an issue with my first one where I broke the casing about 18 mos after I bought it. I called them, got an actual "english speaker" and in a couple days had a brand new one at my door which has been flawless so far. All 3 actually. I have left them out in every kind of weather the Midwest can throw at me. Rain, ice, snowhigh heat and brutal cold. They've worked every time.

I do love my Signals/Bellows combo... I actually find I use my Signals a lot in the house oven too so I can monitor cooking remotely.
Yea, I thought I had a deal for a Summit Kamado E6 that was used once, so I was looking at getting that combo. But then the guy is either a fake or never responds through messenger, so I’m out of luck. I have a WSM, which I loved, but I was wanting to get into the pellet game because I’m lazy, and ended up getting a deal on the Smokefire EX6, so I use that all the time now, I’m just not loving it, though.

So now I’m eyeing the kamados. They look super cool and they can apparently do anything. And with the Bellows it looks like it’s basically just set and forget, which I thought I’d be getting with the Smokefire. Long story short, I have a Performer, Genesis, Smokefire, and WSM. I’d keep the Genesis, but I feel like the Kamado could knock out the need for the other three. Although I love my Performer, so I’ll figure out something to do with it.
