They might have found a cure for prostate (and maybe clues to other types of) cancer.

A man with advanced prostate cancer is believed to be cured after doctors 'shocked' his tumour to death with huge amounts of testosterone.

The result has been described as 'unexpected' and 'exciting' because most prostate cancer therapies work by depriving tumours of testosterone, because cancer uses it as a fuel.

Other seriously ill men taking part in the same trial showed responses that astounded scientists, with tumours shrinking and the progress of their disease halted.

I saw that the other day.
Too late for me, mine was removed a few years back when cancer was found.
Thankfully it was contained inside the gland.

Timely link Len. I was reading a link on another site about natural remedies for an enlarged prostate and proper testosterone levels was one. (That and iodine levels)
Good post!

Bob and Rolf, didn't know you guys were members of that "club", too. I've been "clean" for 18 months after surgery and radiation.

I read about this the other day, and it's a very interesting development for sure. Helpful to note that the men receiving this trial treatment have prostate cancer that had already both spread beyond the prostate, and become resistant to traditional hormone deprivation therapy. I think that it very well may lead to some new approaches to treating both advanced cases as well as those that are detected early.

my neighbor is about to get the radiation treatment - from what his wife said, they embed a few rice-sized things near there & hopefully that'll kill it - otherwise it's surgery.

My sister lost her husband in 2012 to it..... healthy as a horse one day, then he went in & found out he was @ stage 4. They tried everything.

I don't mean to be a downer so carry on guys, I just thought I'd pitch in my $0.02.

This is grate news indeed.
Clean PSA count for me earlier this year, after a worrying infection.
