Summer Begins – Longest Day of the Year

When I was young, I loved Summertime. Now that I'm old, not really a fan of Summer. I am a fan of Fall and am looking forward to it. Thanks Joan :)

Thinking about my Dad on Fathers Day. In the 1930's, when my Dad was young on Grandad's farm, the longest day of the year just meant they had the most time to work in the field.

I can't imagine that. They had a very hard life but they did not know it.

I'll be glad that the days start getting shorter and hopefully cooler in a few months.
Hate it when it's to hot to be outside (108 here today). But then again I'll moan about it's to cold to cook outside in the winter.
I guess I'm not aging well.
But being a grumpy old fart has it's advantages too.

Rich, doesn't it seem the older we get the years have less and less months in them?
Yep! Seems like I'm having two or three birthdays every year now. Told Barb lets just leave the Christmas tree up from now on. Seems like as soon as we take it down it's time to put it back up.
I swear my life is on fast forward now.

Anyone remember this song? Don't know how to post a video, sorry.

Put on a Happy Face

Dick Van Dyke
Gray skies are gonna clear up,
Put on a happy face;
Brush off the clouds and cheer up,
Put on a happy face.
Take off the gloomy mask of tragedy,
It's not your style
You'll look so good that you'll be glad
Ya' decide to smile!
Pick out a pleasant outlook,
Stick out that noble chin;
Wipe off that "full of doubt" look,
Slap on a happy grin!
And spread sunshine all over the place,
Just put on a happy face!
And if you're feeling cross and bitterish
Don't sit and whine
Think of banana split and licorice
And you'll feel fine
I knew a girl so glooming
She'd never laugh or sing
She wouldn't listen to me
Now she's a mean old thing
So spread sunshine all over the place
Just put on a happy face
So, put on a happy face
