Steam-N-Chips

Grillspot.com had them for $159 apiece plus shipping not too long ago. So yeah, not cheap by any stretch. Bruce mentioned he already has a set, so he's good there if he chooses that option.
No, I do not have a set of Summit grates. I have sets of 9mm aftermarket grates however.

If I could find a set like those, I would probably use them on the Genesis 4/5 rehab though.

LOL, I wish I could just find one of the first Gen Summits to steal the grates from.
That's the best place to get them. Your aftermarket 9mm grates sound like a good choice for this project too, especially if they are those $39 ones that everyone bought a few months back.

I just don't see them cheap enough that I would grab them just for grates and I am not about to rehab one.

Steve: The 9mm grates I got quite a while ago. At least early last spring or even the prior fall. I don't remember exactly how much they were, but I don't think they were $39.

EDIT: They were $43.49 when I purchased them last June. I think I still have 4 sets. Wish I had bought 20 sets at the time. They got discontinued right after that.

I remember buying a set in June from Amazon that was I thought $39, maybe it was $49. Anyways, I just remember a lot of people bought them and I thought you did too.

Yah, it is kind of strange. It depends on how you measure them. They are triangular shaped. If you measure point to point, yes they are about 10mm. If you measure flat side to opposite point, they are under 10mm. If I remember right, they weighed very similar to RCPlanebuyer grates. The thing is that when they are in the grill, the top of the pars is a peak, so I would assume they would provide really nice grill marks.....I have not used a set, so I am not positive on that however. If nothing else, they are unique.
