Stay cool everyone.

We had a bad storm hit last night with 70 mph winds. No electricity since 6pm yesterday, estimated restoration time is 11pm Sunday. My little generator handles the well and all lighting but not the central air. No damage so I’m not gonna complain.

Things were supposed to be pretty dicey here today but the rain has missed us. Mixed blessing, I like the weather for a big birthday feast tomorrow starting the brisket tonight. Tomorrow, should be “Africa Hot”! After I get the brisket off early enough for a three or four hour rest whilst the rest “works” I will set up as much shade as I can muster with fans in places deemed necessary.
“Hydrate, Hydrate, HYDRATE”!!!!!

“Well, we’re going to have weather!”

It was a really ugly here yesterday, 98 by my back door with heat index reaching 104-108! The birthday feast was delicious my buddy saying that this might have been my best brisket! Beans were excellent, Mac and cheese was still just a touch less creamy than I was shooting for but, it ended up “resting” a little longer than I’d wanted. Snacks interestingly enough did not go “limp” within the first ten seconds of hitting the table outside. Everyone ended up feeling pretty much slow roasted by the time the cake cake out. I was so drained I even forgot about the ice cream!!
That might be a nice Sunday brunch item!!

Honestly, while I don't have to go out and work in it (if I did I might feel differently) but especially since losing close to 60lbs I'm rather enjoying it. Actually gonna head out and do some yard work shortly, then clean up as we'll then run up to the NE side of Beloit to meet some of our very good friends from over in the Twin Cites visiting their daughter in Milwaukee. We'll be meeting at The Butterfly Club (supper club/steak house) late this afternoon.
But really up until about 10 days ago actually been a bit chilly in these parts. So much so I had to fire up the furnace in the early AM to take the chill off the house before the boss got up.
I'll take the heat ANY time. The old bones don't like the cold anymore

Larry, remember, when it’s cold no one cares how many layers you put on, when it’s cold you can only take off so much before someone calls the police!😉🤣
I can always put more clothes on, there's a limit to what I can take off. Then people just laugh and point a lot.

It's 88 degrees F and 65% relative humidity here right now. I haven't looked at the grass since I got up, but this would be a good day in Dad's opinion to make hay. Me, it's just too stinkin' hot. Predicted heat index today of 115 or more, with a temp of 95+.

Just got inside. Yeah it's hot. Really hot. Did some mowing and yard work. Sorry but kind of enjoying it.

When my parents went "out for dinner" The Butterfly was often their choice.
Well sad to say the Butterfly has lost it's charm. While it still looks great it's become more mundane and sort of like a McDonald's version of a Supper Club. Definitely NOT anywhere near the standards it's price should command and definitely NOT anywhere remotely close to Ishnala
