Well I kept getting notices saying package expected by XX:XX time then it finally went out to 21:45 than after 21:45 passed I get notice saying "we're sorry package is delayed" SMDH
Well I finally got mine last night. VERY late. Not sure what is up with Amazon lately. Didn't get here until 20:30! Bruce you're right there is very little if any difference in weight between the CI ones and these. I have a feeling this will be a happy relationship But, oh those sharp edges. THat laser cutting does not leave nice rounded edges
Well as promised I decided last night to burn some flesh on the new grates. I washed them with Dawn in the kitchen sink trying very hard to not slice my fingers to shreds. Installed them on the 320. Fit is as good as anything can be. Got them hot and burned them off a little and put some marinated Chicken thighs on it. They do make an odd sound BTW a weird "sizzle" sound. There was some blackening of the meat which I don't think was the fault of the grates. But, the fault of all the sugar in the marinade. Sticking even with all that sugar was not really an issue. A spatula took care of that. Cleanup is a little weird though. Brushing them is pretty useless. Scraping is better. So far so good!
I did skinless chicken breasts on mine last night. That sizzle is probably due to the fact that the wider flat areas are almost like a flat frying surface.
Appreciate you guys posting about these. I got to see the set I bought since I am back in Florida for a bit. They are still sitting unused in the Q300 that has not made it to the church property out in the boondocks. They sure look nice still shiny and silver! I think some of the negative reviews were from people who didn’t expect them to season to near black. Nothing wrong with that normal change and unrealistic to expect otherwise.
Besides being magnetic, you likely will never know the difference between that grate and one made out of 304 stainless. Enjoy it. I know I am enjoying mine.
Ya, I understand that it'll probably outlive a cast iron. However, the fact that it's magnetic simply means it's probably a 430 stainless steel. I know that my broil king which uses the 430 stainless steel rusts very quickly from normal usage. That being said, I won't lose sleep over this. It is however unfortunate that it won't last forever as I had hoped.
