Bob,

The beer in the snow reminded me of my time in the US Army in Germany (years ago). On Sundays, a bunch of us would sit in lawn chairs in the snow and listen to Saturday's college football games on Armed Forces radio. We put the beer bottles in the snow. One day, outside my friend Ben's place, he knocked on the window and asked his wife to get us some "snacks".

A bit later she served us a silver platter with Ritz crackers covered with a nice meat spread. They were delicious and really hit the spot until we later found out what she had served us. She had mixed a can of Alpo with pickle relish and mayo and served it to us. We laughed at that but I have never eaten a thing from his wife (Sara) unless I see het taste it first. And yes, we are still friends (for 51 years).

Thanks for bringing back fond memories.

Ray

Very nice looking steaks! Just wondering one thing though Bob, do ya like onions??

Funny story too Ray!!

@"Ray Crick" great story!
@"Bob Correll" They were actually 2 large steaks, about 1 1/2 pounds each, that I cut up into manageable portions.

Thanks all for looking and for the kind words!

One of the best parts of winter! Makes it really easy to set up outside and not have to traipse back into the kitchen for stuff.

Of course, if a hungry neighborhood dog happens to wander by...
