The local grocery had whole birds for $0.99/pound so I picked one up for dinner. Still boggles my mind that a whole chicken (not organic, free range, blah blah blah, just plain chicken) now costs $12-$15 regular price!
Spatched the bird. Rubbed it down with Salt Pepper and garlic. Saved the neck and backbone for stock making. Will be making a chicken, bean, veggie soup tonight with the leftovers.
Loaded the mini-booster with KBB. Didn't use any wood. using the torch and side light method I got things rolling.
While the mini-wsm was warming up I threw together a batch of Au gratin taters. Pretty basic recipe that I make. Simple cheese sauce, sliced taters, bake at 365 fro 1 hour. Top with more grated cheese and bake until bubbly and browned on top. Good side for chicken as they take about the same time
To appease the wife I also steamed broccoli.
Enough talk onto the show!
Booster at the end of the cook. Boosting along!
Look at the juices! I love the crispy crunchies you get on the bottom of the ribs when cooking over direct heat. Good nibblin's!
Enjoy!!!!
