Sous Vide KC Steaks.

Early anniversary present to ourselves. Had a 1/2 day yesterday and it was waiting at my doorstep. I was all about leftovers but once we saw that we just had to break it in.
Grabbed a three pack of frozen Kansas city steaks and got started with the Joule.

Its all an app on your smart phone. These were frozen about 1" and it recommended a temp of 126 for 1 1/2 hrs.

I thought it was pretty cool that a frozen steak could be defrosted and partially cooked rare in a hour and a half.

Had to add a pic of Isabella.

Had the CI pan going for shrooms and onions so I finished on that.

These came off really good. Juicy and tender with great flavor. I'm really excited about this new tool!

You sure know how to celebrate an anniversary Tim. Happy Anniversary to you both. That steak dinner looks absolutely delicious. Haven't got the Sous Vide bug yet but I'm keeping a distant eye on them. Isabella is a beauty too. German Shepherds are so intelligent. Our daughter and son in law had one for many years. She would go over and ring a bell that was hanging on the door when she wanted out.

Real nice anniversary dinner you prepared. Congrats! Great plate shot. I like the puppy - makes me want a dog again, kinda.

Looks fantastic!

One of the things I never realized I'd love about SV is the ability to take a steak out of the freezer and have it defrosted and perfectly cooked in 90 minutes. I buy several at a time, seal them up and throw them in the freezer. No longer need to plan ahead and allow for a lengthy defrost time.

Jim, that’s exactly the thought I have about wanting one. I’m not in a rush and I need to shed some “stuff” before I have room for one and a vessel to use with it. Almost instant thaw to cooked, sound like a good use of time to me. It won’t take much space but, I have ten pounds of kitchen stuff in an eight pound kitchen!

Agree with Jim and Tim plus I also have eight grills and smokers, pretty sure it's a non starter with Barb.
Isabella is a super cutie!

Grill count not quite as high as yours Rich but, I’m standing at seven grills. I have five in the garage, the double barrel kettle “overperformer” lives on the patio ready to be pressed into service at the drop of a hat! I have shared the silver B with my wife’s son so, I can’t count that as “on site”. I strongly doubt I will shed any grills or related equipment but when springs breaks and I do my biannual garage purge I need to make better use of the space. Funny how I seem to “acquire” things without thinking about it!

Thanks all!. Isabella is our third GS. Heidi and Gunner were both taught to ring the bell and Bella is catching on really quick.
The thing I like about the Joule is it's small ( about the size of a big flashlight ) and powerful.
I bought the storage case and it easily fits in a drawer. And you can use any metal pot because it has a magnetic base, or any plastic container because it has a clip.
I also bought the Rubbermaid 12 qt to use it in but I figured it can also be used for brining. The lid helps in dealing with evaporation, not really necessary on a 1 1/2 hr session but useful when going 24 hrs plus.

Know the feeling, in my two car garage I have a full size pantry, full size refrigerator, full size freezer, gun safe, two large cabinets, a super large cabinet full of Christmas stuff, a work bench, a chop saw on it's own rollaway, a bench that holds all the dog food containers. Plus my Toyota 4 runner and Barbs Hyundai sport suv. Oh yeah it's tight!

I love how these threads go sideways and get derailed.
It's been awhile since I posted in show and tell... and seriously folks I kinda miss it. You'll all have a great day!

I’m going to fire off the wings I put under dry rub yesterday for dinner tomorrow, but after that, I’m thinking a nice slab of cow will be on the menu! Maybe Tuesday.....

I apologize if I sounded a little snarky on my last post. Dealing with 16+" of snow over the last few days.
Finally cleared off the remnants of the last blast today, and the sun came out :)

I blew only once today Timothy, neighbors step father has been tweaking the mouth of my driveway, didn’t come by this weekend, hope he’s alright!
I didn’t get any “snarkiness”, no harm no fowl! I need more chicken!
