Smokefire on sale

All Smokefire models are on sale at Weber.com.

Holiday sale or inventory clear out for the Searwood?

The real question is, do I buy a Smokefire on sale or wait?

Thats a pretty big sale an ex4 is $769 which is lower when they were selling them at $799 a few years ago, they did have a 100 day return though if I remember. They are on sale everywhere not just Weber, Amazon looks to have the same prices.

I think it is almost certainly a clear-out of the SmokeFire in preparation for the change to the Searwood. They are too similar in pricing, etc. for me to believe they will be run as parallel models.

I believe I would personally rather have the latest SmokeFire. However, we still need to learn more about the details on the Searwood.

So besides the Weber Crafted Kitchen insert and sear grate, are there physical differences between the Sear+ and the Stealth version? Looks like for the smaller EX4 you either go with the basic Gen 2 or the all-out Sear+. I am thinking the extra $300 between these two available EX4s might be worth it for improved internals.

In follow up, the "Stealth" edition EX6 is cheaper than the Sear+ EX4. You better be getting something more than just the Weber Crafted Kitchen add-ons to pay that much more.

I think only you can decide that the prices are enticing providing money is an overriding factor which it may be. Whatever they replace it with is going to be more inline with their prior pricing I would imagine. I am with Jon this is an effort to clear the whole line out making way for the Searwood or whatever they call it. If it were me and I am not a pellet guy I would wait to see what the improvements are but of course your going to be in the first adopter with the new one which did not work out so well when the Smokefire was launched.

The other thing that needs to be considered is how much pricing power they will have with the new one. If people are buying these at the blowout prices they won't be back for years kind of like mortgaging a bit of your future but I think they decided they had to make a change what that is we will see.

You also get the interior light (which I still haven't used and probably never will), and the side shelf. My Sear+ came with two probes - don't know if the other models include them. We need @Lew Newby here - he knows the specs in detail.

I’ve had both models. The Sear+ also comes with a new top grate that folds out to same size as the bottom grate. My favorite thing is the hopper is redesigned in the Sear+, so the slopes go more directly into the auger reducing pellet flow issues... and the low pellet sensor is in a better position. It comes with the Weber Crafter Sear Grate, the light (which does need to be cleaned every few cooks), better wheels, updated glow plug holder, internal heat shield so you don’t roast your nuts, rubber covered handle, and a left side shelf.

Overall, the Sear+ is an improvement over the Gen2.

Thank you Jeff. Spot on. Guys, I wish I could pick up an ELX4 at that price but this is not the right time for that expenditure. I've picked up bits and pieces on the new design since Jan 2021. If Weber goes to the drip tray of the conventional design then I don't want it. The open cook chamber design of the Smokefire has won me over and I really like the redesigns that came with the Stealth and Sear+. This is just my "Old Fart" opinion but I think the Sear+ at those prices is a great buy.

Rich,
You have a great, rock solid pellet grill. I decided my “fix” for now is the special deflector made by Smoke Daddy costing about a hundred bucks. It holds wood chunks, or even a whole smaller stick, and burns them slowly to add smoke very similar to what the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro does with that push in box.

I hope to try out soon. Let me be the guinea pig. If it works well, you can do the same on your Camp Chef.

It doesn’t sound like you need it, Larry, but this Smoke Daddy diffuser should work on either of your pellet grills. You could even move it back and forth!
