Salmon on a plank

Soy, mirin, rice wine vinegar, honey and LOTS of grated ginger. 3 big box frozen filets marinated for about 30 mins

Cooked on a soaked cedar plank, indirect at 400F dome temp for about 20 to 22 mins.

The marinade was cooked for more sauce.

Fresh mozzarella and tomato salad with evoo, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and some julienne basil.

Perfect light meal for a hot day.

Dan, they both look great! I can’t believe I’ve never cooked on a plank yet! I have done something similar with asparagus, wrapped with roast beef and a horseradish sauce. Served chilled, they were a big hit. Homemade roast beef of course!

Yea, the salmon looks really good. But What about that wine? I’m a sucker for a cool looking label. It looks to be on the higher end of what I normally spend. Was it good? And…can you tell a difference with the plank.

The Rombauer zin is good. It is a 2019 so still very young.

The bottle was opened a week earlier, then gassed with wine preserving gas and set aside. A week later it was still good and the argon gas did a great job keeping the wine from spoiling.

It's $35 retail.

Watched a TV show yesterday.....I watch a boat load of cooking shows, not much else keeps me interested.
Anyways, one guy on a grill...or I think it was a ceramic kettle had a protein on a wood plank and was using smoke at the same time.
The reviews from the judges was not very good......however, the judges watch the cook while it is happening and were turned off before they even ate it.....I would like to know if they couldn't see the cook if they still would have known and still disliked the cook.

Looking good though Dan, betcha it tasted good.

Great looking plate Dan! Glad my wife doesn't look at this BB, or she'd have me slaving over a hot grill every day cooking up stuff like this
