I fired off a couple baskets of charcoal so I can cook on it tomorrow. It’s been fun playing with the temps, very responsive.I'll be interested to hear your take on it. I didn't expect to love mine as much as I do. Lol

I've been using up my stockpile of B&B briquets, but I bought a bag of B&B lump that I'm going to use next few cooks to see how differently it reacts.I fired off a couple baskets of charcoal so I can cook on it tomorrow. It’s been fun playing with the temps, very responsive.
Doing some chicken kebabs for the wife tomorrow I have a bag of JD. lump I’m going to try.I've been using up my stockpile of B&B briquets, but I bought a bag of B&B lump that I'm going to use next few cooks to see how differently it reacts.
I will not admit to how I know, but yes it does melt….Weber intends for it to be a charcoal scoop. Pretty useless IMO.
It can also be a dog dish or a modern hat
I once read someone did not remove it from the ash catcher and the hot coals falling into the catcher caused it to melt and make a mess.
Yea, that's our charcoal scoop. At one point it was a requirement to sell the model in Europe, but we included it globally. We no longer need to include it, but there are still probably some units out there that still have them in there. Units we're making today should no longer have them in the box. I use mine for keeping my wired probes in.Yeah what the heck does it do! I figured maybe you put charcoal around it and pull it and add it lit charcoal in the void?
I agree with Bruno the WSK is alot more money so if you have it thats fine but the performer for the money is hard to beat. Add an SNS Deluxe to it and you also have a decent smoker more than decent.Wow!
What is this?
Did I short my self by buying a performer delux?
Totally agree as of this coming Friday most of Costa Rica will be subject to a 1-3 hour ration of electricity due to a severe lack of rain over the last few months. We are now in the rainy season which hopefully will resolve this serious problem but this will not be resolved overnight. This is a double whammy as we are also on water rationing 3 times a week for a few hours during the day. Also, people here are going crazy in clearing-out portable gas stoves, propane gas, flashlight, batteries, etc. at our local retail outlets. However, there is plenty of charcoal which makes my WPD and WMT a big plus! Oh, water and electricity rationing= For a few hours NADA AGUA y LUZ for homes, apartments, commercial Sodas and restaurants, medical clinics but not hospitals, banks I have only given a partial list of whom will be negatively affected.I agree with Bruno the WSK is alot more money so if you have it thats fine but the performer for the money is hard to beat. I just put a load of charcoal on for it's initial burn. 15 min later I remembered this and checked my ash catcher. I got it out but it did melt a bitI will not admit to how I know, but yes it does melt….
i've never used mine. it just made no sense to me. i don't think you'll miss having it.I just put a load of charcoal on for it's initial burn. 15 min later I remembered this and checked my ash catcher. I got it out but it did melt a bit
Thanks Brett. They assembled it for me but I see that the ash catcher and air sweep is backwards so I will need to fix it. I'm also amazed at how long one basket of coal lasts. I'm going to need to play around and figure out the settings a little bit; there is definitely an art to cooking with this.i've never used mine. it just made no sense to me. i don't think you'll miss having it.
The learning curve is pretty easy. Also it’s well documented on this forum. Thanks Brett. They assembled it for me but I see that the ash catcher and air sweep is backwards so I will need to fix it. Amazon delivers. $35 a sack of 35# IIRC.So I have to say I did the same chicken over KPro this weekend and I don’t like it as much as the chicken over the JD lump. Still good but going to try the JD again, only problem is my local spot stopped carrying it and my go to over here for lump Lazzari’s moved across the bay. A tough weekday trip.
Mixed bag (pun intended) for delivery, though. I bought one and it arrived in pristine condition so I ordered another and it arrived beat to he!!. Very much YMMV.Amazon delivers. $35 a sack of 35# IIRC.
Edit: Yes, 35 for 35
