Refinishing Weber Emblem

They cost less then twelve bucks!

This is true, and I did buy a new one when I was restoring my grill. The problem was that they had changed the logo over the years and it wasn't the same as my old one. I restored the old badge only to find out that it actually looked nicer than the new one. I gave the new one to a friend. So in my case anyway, it wasn't about the money.20211016_211211.jpg

Yeah Eric, but here in Canada it is $30 with shipping and I already had all the paint from other projects. Since I am retired, time to do it is no object either. Plus like Steve, I would want the original style. Thanks for supplying the link though for those that would like to purchase one. 🙂

Is Clear spray paint the same as clear coat? There are 3, Satin,Matte,, and Glossy which one is best

Be careful. When you spray that on the bare aluminum, it turns the aluminum an almost white color.

I have this can of Sunrise Red will it be good enough for painting the kettle. It is not high heat paint, but does it have to be high heat. Sorry for such a trivial question but I want do this right and only once

If it was me, I would roll the dice. I wouldn't want to buy another can of special paint to use on a tiny bit of a small badge. The right answer is probably to not chance it and use all high heat paint.

Look on the can and see if addresses the temp issue. I am thinking you will probably be stripping it after a short time, but it should be easy to do so.

For what its worth, I have used Testors model paint in the small bottles and never have had any issue with pealing or bubbling. Their basic red looks perfect to me. You can get individual bottles for a few bucks at Hobby Lobby. A lot easier and cheaper than fooling around with spraying paint into a cup.

FWIW I have found that International Harvester Red is the exact same red as the Weber Red used on red tops. Found this out due to a clumsy move on my part..............................................don't ask I am still mad at myself :D

Finished My 2 Genesis 1000 Lid Badges.
I chose not to paint the kettle red. I only made a mess. I was not happy with the result.
I did not clear coat either.
