rainin' Cats & Fish

major downpour this afternoon...got the grill all set up to cook...
then the water came in buckets.... soaked everything INCLUDING the charcoal in the chimney...
had to start fresh after it stopped (momentarily)...

very unusual for the entire deck of the PV to get soaked... this passing storm was intense.
anyway, seasoned three huge fillets of catfish with Penzey's Northwoods
(asked the fishmonger for only two, sold me 3, go figure:rolleyes: )

then, the rain seemed to have stopped....

the fillets squeezed on the Weber grill pan pretty nicely....

I then checked out the amount of rain on the Official Town of Raymond Rain Gauge.

Yep! An inch and just under an ½ inch.
It's Official!
whatever.... back to the channelcats..... yeah, we flipped'em.

and again....

and they must weigh a ton each cuz my Weber fish spatula bend under the heat....

Patty Pan squash with sweet red chili peppers and poblano peppers were sautéed....

the cats were removed from the grill and plated on fresh Vienna bread...

I know, looks hokie.... but the white bread soaked up lots of juices and fish oils and tasted damngood!
and I was soakin' wet too and hungry and well, i'm running outta reasons why the plate looks like $#!+:p
after that slop, and cleaning dishes, I ventured outside dodgin' raindrops to fire up the Weber fireplace...

Nice work in that fish Jim!! Looks like you braved the storm like a trooper and came out with some goods after the war!!

And what a finish!! Way to go buddy!

Hey Jim, did you build the pavilion yourself? I might consider building one but not sure if I would have the room because of where I built my shed... If that's the case I will just go with a deck... Nice cook by the way, good pile o' fish right there....

That deck looks awesome when wet.....you oughtta seal it with a nice shiny poly or something like that..........otherwise the fish look great. Does the pigvilion have a roof or just slats to block the sun? Don't remember a picture........................d
