Had one of the original Orion's years ago. Great build quality and surprisingly good results for what it was.

*EDIT* After watching*- Not for me, too gadgety, too many parts, don't like the two part lid, and I'm just annoyed as to how he says "chiminey".

As cool as $500 stainless steel, integrated hanging rack and 19" grates sound: That cooker does not look like I could take it out of the box, assemble, load with a pork shoulder, go to bed and wake up to wrap my pork butt. After using WSMs - that's my expectation for a stock charcoal cooker.

The ball valve drain might be some maintenance and I am scratching my head over the charcoal chamber's capacity. My 14" WSM can hold way more than that 19" cooker in terms of fuel capacity - unless I didn't understand the video.

The original Orion is quite interesting and took me a while to figure out how it could possibly smoke / cook food with a sealed chamber and coals on the outside. Sort of like pressure smoking. I kept seeing people using lighter fluid and was like ***? There was a cheap used one for sale by me a few years ago and I should have bought it just to play with it.

Nothing looks better than a brand new stainless steel appliance right out of the box. In addition to the comments above, I can foresee what weather, smoke and fat is going to do to it after a couple of cooks. No thank you.

Heating element looks small. Be interesting to see it cook. That being said Weber really needs to do a stainless kettle like the OG George’s kettle with red stand. If they did it right I couldn’t turn it down.F794CA26-C4A4-40A8-87C4-FB3BF00B6C31.jpegBD91BA68-759F-44C2-8FD4-3FDCF0A95968.jpeg

The middle section overlaps the base section, & the top section overlaps the middle section.
I bet he has grate fun cleaning the outside of that ..........'thing'. Not!!
No thanks.

Pass. I have spent a lot of time with southerners playing Bluegrass Music for over forty years but this yokel makes me want to run screaming into the night! there’s 8 minutes of my life I will never get back.
Not a fan of the design either, cleaning it will be miserable, the ball valve is ridiculous, the riveted top vent will be fine until it isn’t. No, this is definitely a “No Sale” for me.
The guy needs to learn how to edit and might need a writer as well. What A waste! Chiminey 🤪!

It looks okay, I guess. I'd be curious how long a burn you can get on one load of charcoal. More than a load and it'd be pretty hard to put back together. The ball valve looks like it's just there to drain water. A lot of insulated cabinet smokers use them as vents.

As a vent in an insulated unit the ball valve makes perfect sense but, I hate to think just how foul that would get when used with water. The grease would be revolting.
