New York Steaks

Picked these Prime New York's up at Costco a few days ago. Here's the cook.

Some Coarse Sea Salt and black pepper.

Acorn Squash with a little butter, brown sugar, S&P. Mrs. Dash's Russets.

Got the sides on first as the steaks aren't going to take long.

Seared a couple of minutes/side on direct and then moved over to indirect.

Squash and potatoes about done.

Steaks too.

Plated up.

The steaks were outstanding but my wife and I agreed we like the Rib Eyes better. I cook these to about 130 and I think next time it will be more like 120-125. Anyway, that's it. Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Nice looking cook Cliff. I agree I've been pulling my New Yorks at 120 instead of 125 and they seem a lot moister. I also agree with the liking the Rib Eyes better

Cliff, that looks fantastic great dinner for sure. Like Rich said Rib Eyes are lots better. Now this makes me want a steak for dinner!!!! Oh Rich :o

I'm with you on the Rib Eyes Cliff & Wifey, tasty looking Prime NY's, spuds and squash though.
Just getting into acorn squash on the grill, i see you cooked it whole first before slicing it in half.

Beautiful steaks and sides Cliff! I'll go across the grain...N.Y. Strips are my favorite and you rocked the cook.

Thanks everyone!

Care to share your method/time.

Jeff... No, didn't cook whole. Halved the squash, seeded, coated lightly with oil and a little s&p. Cooked indirect, cut side down, for about 30 minutes, mainly to get some nice grill marks. Flipped the squash, basted flesh with butter and brown sugar mixture and finished it up cut side up.

Thanks everyone!

Strip Steaks used to be my favorite----still kind of are (the big side of a porterhouse). I picked up some Prime NY Steaks just like yours from costco a few years ago and it blew me away how good they were.

I'm going to try those acorn squashes before long, I've only had them served to me, I've never cooked them. I'll go back & see how long they took :)

My favorite steaks, in order, are rib eye, chuck eye, sirloin, filet mignon, NY/KC/strip but...
your Prime NY's look outstanding Cliff!

Thanks everyone!

My bad Cliff, couldn't find my glasses so it looked like the acorn squash was whole in the picture.

I have been using my grill grates for some grill marks and the cooking the squash using the vortex and have had varied results.

Ill nail it down soon.

Thanks for you quick response Cliff.

That's as good as it gets right there. I'm going to tell your Winco butcher you're cheating on him at Costco

Thanks everyone!

Cliff try the squash with butter and some good maple syrup for a change, really good.

Post photos to show-off your barbecuing and grilling creations! Barbecuing and grilling questions should not be posted in this forum.

Who knew.

OT: I think that's pretty much just for new threads, e.g. if you had a question on grilling or smoking you should start your thread in the BBQ, Grilling, or Recipe Requests & Ingredient Questions.
