New Weber pellet grills for 2020

Those are some nice smokers. I hope they come up with a shelf for the Smokefire’s.
Just and update on the SmokeFire I ordered, it’s due Monday the 17th but I can’t find pellets or covers anywhere online except Weber and some pellets possibly at Lowe’s.
I currently have on order a cover and 4 types of pellets from Weber due on the 15th, they don’t have the grill master blend available so I tried to order 4 bags from Lowe’s, we’ll see if that works out.
For the most part looks like I’ll be good to go soon.
I hope to do a brisket next weekend and will post pics.

Got my Ex6 delivered today. Overall, it looks like a pretty good quality build. Feels similar to the Genesis. It appears to have a pretty good smoke profile but I have only gotten the chance to cook a chicken on it. The grill was able to reach 600 degrees in about 22 minutes but the outside temperature was cold and it was rainy. At 600 degrees, the SmokeFire felt very hot! Definitely got hotter and better searing ability than my Weber Spirit gas grill. There was a decent amount of ash in the grill but having the tray on the bottom seemed to help limit the ash. The Weber App appears to still be in it's beta stages and right now is not very effective. It is difficulty to connect to the grill and you cannot control the grill with the app. Temps seem more stable and consistent across the grill at lower temperatures. When I went above 400 I noticed about a 30- 50 degree variability between my ambient probe and the built in probe when placed on the right or left side of the grill. At lower temperatures it seems like it will provide more consistent temperatures across the grill (looks like a 10-20 degree range). The stability of the temp on the built in probe was very good and it stayed pretty close to set temp throughout the cook. I hope to get some better information when I get some more cooks in.

The trickle is starting! We look forward to hearing - and seeing - more from you guys in coming days.

I might suggest bbq guys.com as a source for Weber pellets. If you buy enough stuff to get free shipping they have a good price and last I looked had pellets in stock.

And we are back!! Thanks Chris!!
EX6 coming Monday, I have a cover and a bunch of pellets coming in this weekend.
looking forward to trying the grill master blend based on Johns review of it.

I'd be curious how the Ex4 compares to the Ex6 in terms of consistent temperatures across the grill.

Looking forward to hearing what the beta testers have to say about the new Weber's.
Also great job on the transition to the new platform Chris. Even with my old befuddled brain I figured it out right away...I think.

I went to our local Lowe's yesterday and they had a few in stock. One EX4 assembled on display. Honestly I was not very impressed with the quality for that price tag. Very thin steel. Lost of sharp metal edges inside and out where you can scratch or cut yourself. Very thin and wide spread nickel plated grates. They looked about the same thickness than the grates for a kettle but with wider gaps. Plus the grates have a lot of play. They slide left and right and back and forth. The inner liner is riveted in and looked like the same material they use for the inner liners of the gas grill lids. And these tended to rust in the past.
Of course time will tell on how good they are. But in regards to fabrication quality, this model I saw looked like it was rushed out of the factory.
And no 10 years warranty. Anywhere between 3 and 5 years.

Got an email saying my EX6 is at the local shipper. They're in Maryland and I'm in Virginia. I called to schedule delivery and was told that they deliver to Virginia on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Both are days that no one is home during the day. In fact those are the only days that no one is home during the day. Plus it's next week. So, now I have to decide whether or not to make the drive to them and pick it up myself. Those who have received theirs, how big was the box? Pretty sure it will fit in my car but having numbers would confirm it. I could leave home at 8 am and be back home by noon. More importantly, I could be using it on Saturday.

Raleigh, I was just looking at it on Amazon. Here is what they say:

Product information
Style:Pellet Grill
Product Dimensions57 x 30 x 46 inches
Item Weight207 pounds
Shipping Weight207 pounds (View shipping rates and policies)

I hope you have a full size SUV. I don't think 5 x 2.5 x 4 feet is going to fit in a Camry.

I looked on Amazon too. I have a Jaguar F-Pace, but if those are the dimensions of the box then it won't fit. If that's the case, and I have to wait until next week, I guess the ribs on Sunday will be with the old tried and true WSM.

the dimensions of the ex6 box is actually 31.5” x 30”x 55.75” according to Weber. That appears consistent with the Smokefire I received

Stefan, the grates should not be an issue on the spacing for a smoker. I have a UDS the grate is 10 years old a Weber grate, cause of the low heat they don't rust covered with good old grease or whatever you want to call it. I mean your laying racks of ribs and brisket on them nothing going to fall thru them and there is no need for close spacing or whatever. The build quality which you mentioned would definitely be an issue, my lowes should have them the 17th so I am hoping they have a floor model so will give my observations for what its worth.

Being an early adopter has risks, the few comments on the app is a bit disappointing but its early however there are many igrill app owners which Weber bought from another company and it appears they made it worse. Not me plenty of reviews out there.

Misc.

Pellets are Weber Hickory left, CookinPellets Hickory right. Drawer is after almost full bag of pellets, cooking steaks and ribs. Embers in drawer are 600 degree initial burn in.

Looks like some tasty treats. I am still not sure of the purpose of the fan. Is it to provide combustion air or to circulate heat like a convection oven?

Yes...Temp control in pellet gill is feed rate and air control, so it’s driving force is combustion air, but there is also a convection effect.
