New Traegers

Like the Smokefire, I'd give it some time. The original Timberlines had issues if I recall. It's also their highest end model. The standard costs as much as Franklin pit did (at the time).

Beautiful looking grill but yup that is big money but all this stuff is going up big time when I was in lowes a Weber Gasser was $1,499 not exactly chump change for a gasser.

As a Traeger user since 2013, I've watched Traeger themed forums and seen complaint after complaint about the Timberline and many other models. It got so bad a couple of years ago that they introduced a whole new product line, although most of it was cosmetic differences (PR), it appears. While the complaints aren't dominating the forums as they did before, they're still rolling in. The biggest problem I see with pellet grills in general, and Traeger in particular, are with programming and connectivity issues. I know you're old school too and understand that more fluff leads to more problems. If my old no frills Li'l Tex Elite ever needs replacement, which I doubt, you can bet it will be with another no frills model.

"The Traeger Timberline and Timberline XL don’t come cheap. The standard Timberline, which has an 865 square inch capacitity, comes at $3,499, while the Timberline XL, with its 132 square inch capacity, comes at $3,799. Both will be available later in the spring in the U.S. and Canada, though we don’t have a specific date for them just yet."

cleanup on aisle 4. i just shipped my pants. and yes, the "capacitity" is a direct typo from the author's page. i won't go into its meaning as this is a family website.

I agree, my no frills Camp Chef has been through hundreds of trouble free cooks. No software/firmware upgrades needed. In some things less is best. I have one TW Smoke that monitors all my grills, works great and simple to use.
If I was to spend $3700 on a grill to cook chicken Barb would get me a permeant room at hotel silly.

My local ace had one on display when I went in today. No price, just a tag that said you could preorder. Nice looking grill, but dang that's a lot of money.

I like new toys like other folks, but as with your cars, the high technology controls is what breaks down the most. I enjoy the process of manual cooking over coal or gas. So I use a probe thermometer on larger cuts , that is about it. I love watching the meat change into something amazing, and with beautiful colors of smoke.
Old school is good school no CRT..... learn for what is.

I still wouldn’t part with $3700 plus tax for that grill.

And why the 100 layers of seasoning and sauce on ribs? I just don’t get it.
I agree on the overkill with all of the layers of seasoning, my guess it's just to create a "Wow" factor for his YT followers.

I am with Bruno this is one nicely built pellet grill. Sturdy, and not always having to be tied to electronics to cook is very. I need to see, check out some cooks and reviews on this cooker.

Love Malcom, gotta respect how far he’s come from his first videos.
That’s actually a pretty nice looking smoker, but at that price it puts you in position to buy pretty much anything you want.
