Roger, most of the damage comes from the drying not so much the washing.

The one I went to Mikes Car Wash..they have many in a few states scratched while washing...they use Air dryers no cloth only when washing...

Congrats on the new truck. Flow masters arent good mufflers they dont flow well despite their name. I vote dont make it any louder but if you do choose a different muffler. My 14 gmc has about 7k miles on it now.
