National Days in June

No disrespect Joan, but frozen COTC is fine in the winter, but come summer us midwesterners take pride in our corn.
Most of us are surrounded by cornfields ( I know I am) and the old saying " knee high by July" just lets us know that around the end of july, early august is when the corn festivals start.
I agree with Brad and Timothy, June 11 is too early for us in the corn belt.:)

Happy Friday Tim, it should be a happy day for DH. He is cooking dinner in the slow cooker, so no cooking for him tonight. lol

It's supposed to cool down this weekend, so I'm also gonna use the slow cooker or Instant pot a few times.
Maybe bake some cookies.:)

Tim

It’s also “Mixed Blessing on Cork Street day”
The road work has changed to put two way traffic on one side of the road after three months of one way on the far side! People are already speeding and doing stupid things!

I took 1 tsp. Old Bay seasoning and 2 tsp. coarse kosher salt and put them in a small glass jar with shaker and used some on a dish of cottage cheese. Bad idea. Let's hope it will taste better tomorrow on the corn on the cob.
Sorry, forgot to post. This is delicious on corn on the cob. Had it again tonight.

We love corn on the bone. We start buying it as soon as it arrives in the stores. The first month or so it's not perfect, but still good. By July/August it's great. Barb must have a gazillion recipes for grilled corn.

Hi Rich, maybe you could get Barb to share some of her recipes?

I'll let Barb know, although her part time job at Safeway has turned ugly. She went from about 16 hours a week to well over forty.
Today 7 people called in and they begged Barb to come in early, being the trooper that she is she went in 3 hours early. Another 11-12 hour day.
It may be awhile before she can get to it.

The poor dear, that is a lot of hours. Please, don't bother her with my recipe request. She needs a break. Let's pray to God she stays safe. Just tell her I said thanks anyway, ok? And thank you for getting back to me, appreciate the kindness.

Actually that would be R&R for her, she loves staying busy. Last Wednesday was her 74 birthday and she acts like a 20 year old. Makes the Energizer Bunny look like a slacker. I get tired just watching her.

Please tell her I wish her a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!!!!! She is just a young spring chicken.

Rich, I clicked on your avatar, lovely pictures. With all that open space, where do all the shoppers come from to keep Barb busy? lol

There are four city's in the quad city area of Prescott with about 45 thousand people plus about 10 thousand + people in the rural areas outside the quad cities area that have to shop here. There are 2 Walmart's, 3 Safeway's, 3 Fry's, 2 sprouts .
There are also 2000 new homes that are completed and being moved into within 2 miles of Barbs store and 5000 more under construction. So at least another 14-20 thousand new people to the area when everything is done.
The people in the rural areas some have to drive an hour one way just to get to Barbs store which is the nearest one and will have sales of $300-400 worth of food 3-4 very full shopping carts which is very time consuming at the check out.
The store is very busy from opening to closing.

I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing. When we moved here 20 years ago, things were so much nicer, quite, and very little traffic.
