Ok , so I cooked 10 pounds of wings Saturday and I only got to eat one half of a wing myself. Boo-Hoo!
so anyway on Sunday I was still Jonesing for chicken so me n sweetie got some leg quarters at the sooper mahket and I cooked em up on my new kettle. I sprinkled on some weber kickin chicken (love that stuff) and In a little over an hour we had perfecty cooked smokey delicious chicken legs. Heated up some home made baked beans and an ear of corn . I know my plated pics are dull , but let me assure you , this meal was excellent. This kettle cooks like a dream. What a nice smoke flavor on that chicken with just charcoal.

And now my grate was all funky and it's way too big for the sink , so today I went to HD and sprung 10 bucks for onea those plastic water heater pans. I bought a cap for the plug and now it's a perfect dishpan for all my weber grates! The WSM and the kettle and the smoky joe will certainly fit in there....and they can soak submerged instead of half a grate at a time. This is awesome.

Yes , I see tony using this a lot. I've never seen it at my stores around here. I gotta look closer , maybe where they keep the Goya products.

Great looking chicken. We picked up some of that Pollo seasoning but haven't tried it yet.

I see you've been hitting the Angry Orchard again Frank. :p
Super looking bird and sides!
Great idea for grate cleaning, if I'm ever inclined to do so.;)

Frank H;
I just burn my kettle grate off after the cook. Then use the grill brush and leave oiled with Canola Oil. When I start it up, I, again, let it heat for about five minutes, run the grill brush over it, then oil. It only takes a couple of minutes.

However, the smokers are another matter. Your idea sounds like an answer to cleaning my WSM's and Mini-Joe grates.

Thanks for sharing your method.

Keep on smokin',

Your plated pic's are not dull, Frank. The chicken and beans look delicious. Thanks for the tip on the grill pan. I'm going to pick up one of those today.

Ditto that, well done all around Frank

the plastic pan turns out to be a little bendy when it's full of water , so you might want to set it up somewhere where you can just take off the drain plug and let the water out....another alternative is to go with the metal pan...might be more rigid. And thanks for the encouragement , guys.

Thanks for the tip Frank, my mini grates get really gunked up and that water heater tray will be perfect. Nice looking cook too!

Great cook and excellent idea on the plastic heater pan. I've been using a kittly litter pan but it's not wide enough. Home depot is one of my stops tomorrow :).
