Meet Whitney Our New Rescue Pup

Meet our new rescue pup, Whitney. She is a 1-2 year old Golden Retriever / Husky mix (although looking at those eyes and snout there might have been a coyote in the woodpile) that was picked up off an Indian reservation in New Mexico. She is the sweetest thing on the planet. Her and Raddy hit it off perfectly and are bonded buds now.

Unfortunately the first pup we adopted, Patches was very aggressive toward Raddy and attacked her twice for no apparent reason and Raddy being 12 years old really couldn’t defend herself so we had to find a home for Patches that didn’t have any other dogs. She is in her new home now and doing well.

Whitney is the one on the left.

She already knows the best place to hang out is the grill or in the kitchen with Barb.

Looks like a good fit - good luck! I'd sure like to get mine another pup to play with - soon but not yet.

Nice looking pooch Rich! I like how you go the rescue route.

Barb and I belong to the UAF United Animal Friends here in Prescott. It's a non profit that goes to high kill shelters and rescues dogs and cats that otherwise would be destroyed and has foster homes throughout the quad cites area to care for them until a forever home can be found. They work with Veterinarians in the area to get the animals spayed or neutered and take care of any other health issues before they are put up for adoption.
The success rate for placement is almost 100%.
Lots of good people if they can't foster will provide transportation for vet visits or go as far as New Mexico and pick up dogs and cats to be brought back for adoption and to take the dogs to places where adoptions shows are held.
The local Petco here allows us to have dogs and cats up for adoption to use there store on Saturday and Sunday for a few hours to show the dogs and cats to the public.
Barb and I are just happy we can give back a little for all the love and companionship our dogs have given us all these years

There's something so endearing to me in the face of an older Golden. Something about the silvering muzzle and the eyes just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The pup's cute, too, but I love your old girl.

Congrats Rich....great looking pooch!! Looks like she might have some husky in her? She picked the right family!!

She's a beauty.

Our next door neighbors have a yellow lab/golden mix with brown eyes like that. They are almost hypnotic.

Congrats on the new family member Rich and Barb! You both are wonderful for going the rescue route with your dogs!

Rich & Barb, congrats on the new family member. Looks like she found her forever home. Love those soulful brown eyes. The shelter here also brings in & transports dogs to other rescue groups. We have had 3 rescues now. The last being Blue. Hats off to all of us who had or have a rescue dog in our lives.
