Maple Brined Pork Steaks

Simple little cook.
Brined the steaks with a standard brine, but used maple sugar instead of regular.
On the grill with Penzey's salt free AZ Dreaming, hickory for smoke.

Meanwhile, baked a fruit cocktail cake for dee-zert.

After about 2.5 hrs. of indirect each set of 2 were sauced, and wrapped in foil, and corn added to the fixins.

Maple taste?
Nah, but they were tender and tasty.
Corn? from who knows where at this time of year:confused:
Not too shabby, but come on Florida corn til local gets here!

Wow...I am going to try this super soon. How long did you foil for and why only 2?

I wasn't too clear about that.
Two were sauced with Tasty Licks (my favorite), and two with Bandana's (my wife's favorite)
Guess they were back on, foiled, for another 45 mins. or so.
Ideally, they should/could have been taken out a given a quick hit of direct to set up a little glaze.
 
What a great looking meal, Bob! I would love some homegrown sweet corn right about now. Top notch photos as well.

I like simple cooks specially the one you made Bob. Wrapping is something I will need to try thanks for the idea.
 
That's a nice Sunday dinner, Bob! Did you bake the cake on the grill, too, or did it get cooked in the house?
 
Looks superb! When I do pork w/maple, I gotta get that maple flavor. Maple sugar & syrup in the rub & glaze, plus sugar maple wood on the fire if I can get it. Try it!
 
Bob, I don't know how you get such great pictures of your obviously delicious meals, but I almost licked my monitor...
