Evening folks...not much posting lately..work has been crazy...causes excessive drinking which then pictures become ..well not posting quality!! Tonight is some lemon peppered chicken thighs, boxed scalloped taters, steamed green beans and a new charcoal(to me any how)
My local HD has been out of regular kingsford well forever..was too busy to stock up for the sales...I just refuse to pay 8 bucks for 3lbs of kingsford at the regular store..had some cowboy lump to work with but the consistency just isn't there! So I swung by HD today and found this!

Any body try this? 5 bucks for 16.6 lbs..why not!
Here is the comparison with regular kingsford blue bag!

We'll give it a try...ok chicken soaked in weber garlic and herb, lemon, lime lemon pepper and EVOO! Boxed scalloped taters in the cast iron!

First off the coals light up and smell just like KF..ducked in the garage for a refreshment!

All plated with some steamed GB's...hit with some more EVOO and weber garlic herb!! Had to switch to a heavier beer!

Oh man...good stuff! All came out great!! Charcol worked out pretty well..not sure it has the heat that kingsford does but for this it worked out super!! No off taste, burned clean...I may have to get some more before HD jacks up the price!!

Thank for looking at my Tuesday nite cook!

Take care folks!

Thinking of the chicken makes my mouth water. :o
Lemon and garlic great combo and dinner looks good Morgan...

Great looking chicken and sides Morgan! That charcoal almost reminds me of Royal Oak briquettes.
If I remember correctly they seemed to be designed with the "channel" look. I think I posted that
I really didn't care for the RO briquettes as they took forever to light.

Morgan, Mike, that looks identical to the R/O Plus I've using from Lowes. I just tried it out as I do not like the odours from KB. I'm very impressed with it. It lights quickly...maybe they've changed it I don't know. I like R/O charcoal. This Plus has been around for awhile but I just never tried it.

Great cook by the way!

Yep part of the RO family...I checked the bag a little closer and saw the name at the bottom of the bag! I would use it again...didn't have any issues with it at all! Lighting was no problem...will be testing again soon!

Thanks guys!

I hate it when work gets in the way of not work! Great lookin' meal, Morgan. Raindeer is definitely in my summer rotation. I miss those pounders though :(

Cook and plated pictures look great, I need to try taters like that soon. Thank you for the info on the charcoal, I will keep my eye out for it.

Nice cook Morgan... Such a cute pic of the dog looking in... I had to show my girlfriend that pic as she loves dogs... I know it's an older thread, but I came across it while searching for something...
