Kielbasa with Cabbage and Potatoes

I have always had this boiled but wanted to try something different, grill the sausage and stir fry the veggies

Diced up some potatoes added some water to let them soften up a little and then fry them a little bit in oil. This didn't work out as I had planned they were too mushy on the outside.

A couple Kielbasa links on the grill smoked with a little apple chips

Thinly sliced up a medium head of cabbage, half a large onion and chopped up a green pepper and sauteed it in the wok till they were soft.

Let the sausage rest a bit then sliced one and a half of them.

Tossed the sausage and potatoes in with the veggies and added Slap ya Mama Cajun Seasoning to taste. Not very pretty to look at but it sure tasted good. Will do this again but will cook the potatoes differently.

John, Looks great!

My $.02 (only mentioning it to help)...

1. After you dice the potatos, skip boiling them. You just put them in a bowl, cover them with saran wrap and nuke them for about 5 minutes (I do this before making home-fries. Softens the potatos inside without "mushing" them up too much for the browning process).

2. With kielbasa like that, using a slicing knife, I like to score the sausage (very shallowly) in a 1/4" hash pattern across one side. it adds to the texture and makes some nice, crunchiness to the bits of skin.

Not pushing my advice, but these two things have given me good results when doing this very meal.

Be well.
