how in the world could you NOT like his music...?Never liked his music but he was a genius of marketing and entrepreneurship. Margaritaville restaurants, resorts, casinos, retirement communities, campgrounds, Landshark beer, footwear...plus he had his private pilot's license...that's pretty cool.
I will add that he was much copied -- maybe better to say he initiated a trend that still continues.... Buffet's songs were very original and well put together musically. He invented his own category and it worked.

1. He didn't have the best voice.how in the world could you NOT like his music...?
how in the world could you NOT LOVE his music...?
he was feel good, love life and have a blast doing it guy.
i've seen him at Alpine 3 times over the years and ran into him at his KW bar/restaurant in 2002.
The world has truly lost a real treasure.
Rich, I am really sorry for your loss. This one hits me really hard. I was in my early 20s when I first heard Jimmy Buffett and later became a dedicated fan after listening to the Changes in Latitudes album in depth with a friend. That was when I began really listening to his poetry and melodies.
I spent some hours yesterday with Jimmy working on my carving and just enjoying his musical library. Jimmy Buffett has been a major influence in my life -- his songs helping me through some of my most difficult times. His philosophy has special meaning -- really listen to Cowboy In The Jungle. That song helped me weather the most severe career issues I had. RIP Jimmy Buffet -- neither life nor music will be the same without you.
