Is Thermoworks Feeling the Heat?

Yeah, I saw that, too. I will be watching...I hope it is something GREAT!

I am very happy with my most recent purchase of the ThermoPro TP620 (and my prior bargain purchase of the TP19H for that matter), but I have always admired Thermoworks and would love to see them bring something even better to the market. I think the gap was getting too narrow, and this will be a very timely announcement.

Gotta wonder. Short of giving accurate temps quickly and being easy to see what more does a thermometer have to do? Give you a kiss goodnight, tell you not to eat too much? Make a good product, back it and sell it at reasonable pricing
I do like the model that takes temps and gives the option to take IR readings. I think the new one is going to be a more robust version of that. Maybe more waterproof than the previous model.
Looking forward to seeing what it is.

Well, it looks like Thermoworks didn't go for any significant change in looks (like I suggested as a possibility) nor did they add a plug in remote as Bruce suggested. Instead, they focused on ultra-fast read, claiming 1 second, a better battery compartment, and a brighter backlight. All of these are solid features and consistent with the overall image of top drawer construction quality that Thermoworks is known for. So, I think they have raised the bar (and the price - $105). I guess the question remains for each user as to whether this best quality is worth 2 1/2 even 3 or 4 times the price of a decent - NOT as good, mind you - alternative such as what has been posted previously.

Yep, they went the conservative route. I suppose if they made it look flashier like I suggested they might have alienated their user base (and looked like they were caving in to the "knock-offs"). Nothing wrong with the look, it is just kind of bland to my eyes. They also avoided add-ons to concentrate specifically on being the best and fastet instant read thermometer. Looks really solid, but time will tell how the market reacts.

Made for impatient millennials. :)
I think the original, now called the Classic, was about a hundred bucks. My first one was discounted a bit through King Arthur Baking Co. It's at least 10 years old and still going strong. I gave it to my millennial son a couple years back when I got the Mk4.

Picking on the youngest's for wanting it fast, but you upgraded from the original to the faster Mk4 didn't you. Interesting!!! ;)

Yah, I doubt most of the people that make this upgrade will be doing it "just because" and not due to their classic or MK4 not performing well any longer.

Typically marketing hype! Geared for the person who has to have the "latest & greatest! My MK4 suits me just fine, what will ThermoWorks, shoot for next, perhaps nanosecond readings! I'm done ranting, sorry.

MEH One second, two, hell even 5. Even the cheapest Thermopro I bought for $9.00 on an Amazon Lightning sale reads out faster than my eyes can focus on it. It's 2.5 seconds according to the specs. In the end all you need is a temp. Yes I like the 5 year warranty but at that price it should be lifetime IMO. Heck when my original Tpro broke nearly 3 years in, I called them and in 1 day had a brand new one on my door step
