Inherited this Weber Performer today

Hello all, “inherited” this from an uncle today, is there anything specific I should check out or know? It seems like it’s missing a few parts but I haven’t been able to pick it up yet, just hoping to get a jump start!

Message from my aunt about the grill that I thought people would appreciate:
“J and M really got into the charcoal. They had a whole ritual which of course involved beer. I would love another late afternoon like that. 💕

Thank you everyone!IMG_2386.jpeg

You're at the right forum to ask these folks on how to clean and rebuild the performer. Looks like it's missing a few parts but I'm sure you'll be able to find them good luck let us know how it goes

Thank you Randy, that’s what I was hoping for. Not even sure where to start/what’s missing yet but excited to dig in.

You inherited a great grill. The Performer is great because of the large integrated side table.

That should clean up really nice. Wash her off to see where you stand. Make sure it has a charcoal grate and cooking grate inside. Get the lid damper back on and you’ll be ready to cook. You can do a deep clean later.

At quick glance, it seems like it’s missing the charcoal storage bin and timer which is often lost. Neither are necessary for operation. Neither will prevent you from a late afternoon cook with a cold beer.

Looks like a great grill to adopt. The top vent is not attached but is there. Make sure that doesn't get lost.

Also, the tables are plastic and notorious for cracking if too much weight is put on, or pulled up on with them.

Enjoy the performer

Don’t bother with the timer. I haven’t used mine once. I don’t use my gas assist, either. I’d actually rather have one without it.

But it’s been my favorite grill. I’m often tempted to get the Summit charcoal grill, but at 1/4 of the cost, the Performer does everything I need from great steaks to ribs and briskets.

I recently sold my WSK to a very fine mountain man and now grill on my 2015 performer. I have 0 regrets. In the groundswell on fancy, electronically driven new things to cook on I had forgotten how easy it is to cook on a kettle.
