I will just leave this here

For anyone that remembers me posting the $40 Sequoiai posted a while back that I tried to get but the guy stopped responding, he responded today. Got it for $20 and it looks really dang good overall. Lid looks about perfect, kettle will need touch ups of some kind. Because it's hidden in the cabinet I may just try to touch up with some high heat red. Maybe new porcelain one day. I'll start a thread to show the restore

Eric, looks like you are accumulating some very cool “unicorns” that will give you plenty to do! :smilekettle:

Very random question, but where should I put the restoration thread for the Imperial Sequoia? Seems quite worthy of a dedicated thread!
I imagine this is the best place for it.

I finally got around to cleaning out the the 1000 NG grill I got from my neighbors estate.... I grabbed it because it had some SS grill grates that should clean up nicely - got a second smoke tube - flavor bars that are 'used' but still really serviceable - GOOD frame parts that I can use to make my 1000 really SWEET without much effort.... But the killer thing I just realized today was that it has ORIGINAL burner tubes!!! Center burner with dual holes! Pretty stoked about that. Any rebuild/consolidation/dream grill will wait until spring.

I see that the manifold on the NG grill is in much better shape than my LP one.... I'm debating about swapping out the valves on the manifold just to feel good about it.... I haven't dug into it yet to see what is involved ---- what do I need to know?

I don't get too excited about those old burner tubes since there is no difference in the way they work over the later design, if they are still in good shape with the spider guards intact then it's a bonus I suppose. As far as the manifold goes, I would just clean up yours and repaint it. It will be a lot less work than swapping over 6 valves and no chance of breaking anything. I've seen a couple of guys on here at least that have broken valves removing them so they could paint their manifold. This is also unnecessary, just tape them off and do the work. I can restore a manifold to like new condition in about an hours time with no risk in damaging anything. Just my opinion, do what you want to of course. A couple pictures of this grill you got IMG_20240604_163719476.jpgwould have been nice too. This is a picture of the last Genesis 1000 manifold I restored.

Is this a BroilMaster? I can't really make out the name for sure but it looks kind of like "Broilmaster" and it has a general broilmaster look to it. I just haven't seen one like it before.
