I will just leave this here

Love the tow-tone look:ROFLMAO:! A shame, because it COULD still again be a beautiful grill. From Larry's advice and my own experience, if you spray on some paint stripper, that horrible flat black paint will slide right off. (I hadn't thought of that when the first picture below was taken!)
Of course, you don't know what scratches they may have been hiding underneath. I did one years ago that turned out to be perfectly fine and had a stunning maroon color underneath. The first picture makes it look like there were scratches on top, but there weren't as you can see in the finished photo:

Those were excellent grills. Actually in many ways better than Weber's mainline products. All welded 304SS solid grates, rotisserie burner and so on. Honestly? IMO what the Genesis should have become. For $25 if you can get some burners (if needed) and such.

IIRC those were made by whoever made Charmglow grills after being turned into Chineseum. These were big and shiny with some SS but nowhere near the quality product Grand Hall made for Members Mark, or the earlier Kenmore product that looked similar. Or the ones that were sold by the large dealer in California basically the early gas grills you saw on the early Steven Raichlen show (IIRC BBQ University)

I kept getting pissed off by this damn lid laying in my shop. Finally took a stab at a stainless lid. It has nothing to do with my current flipper, but my anger adhd kicked in.
