I will just leave this here

Yeah --- I can't decide whether a Smokefire for $100 is a good deal or a money pit/heap.....
I'm betting if its kept to <300-350 it would probably be fine....?....? Gas for high heat.
I've had a Weber smokefire EX6 for around 18months and it it a superb addition to my outdoor cooking. I use it weekly and its never let me down or not performed. I love how easy it is to set and maintain a constant temp, how easy cleanup is (I line mine with tin foil) it actually encourages me to smoke meat more often as I can set it and head out for a while and still monitor the grill and meat from the app which is also superb. For that price I would snap it up. You won't regret having one

As it's in central Texas, depending on how it was stored, that tray might be a pretty good. An early Gold lid on a later gold grill makes me wonder about this grill's story.

are you thinking the side mount thermometer? I only ask because all of the golds I have collected were DU codes, and 3/4 were FUBAR

Good eye, it does make you wonder what the story is there. I guess it could have been a warranty replacement when that style of lid was still available. I guess it could have been born that way if they were trying to use up the old style of lid.

Thanks! Rearranging some of the grills yesterday I spent some time staring at two rough Silver C's, one early and one late. I was making the painful decision to keep one and cannibalize/part out the other, so those differences were on my mind! I believe only 2005 Genesis models had the centered thermometer before that design became the Spirit.

The one with the wire bottom rack and solid crossmember won. DT serial number, so 2003 w/side thermometer. The 2005 grill w/centered thermometer had a detached rotted pan and major fade, but will be a great donor for it's siblings in the herd.
