I had to look again and if it was close I would definitely consider it. Looks very doable. The lid would need to be redone but the rest looks to be in pretty good restorable condition. Value is subjective. I don't sell my vintage webers I keep them because I value them more than most people probably would. They are worth more than money to me.

If you could manage to restore it to it's former glory I think it would be a valuable piece. It's very cool, and I've never seen one like it before. Definitely wouldn't be easy to bring it to a high level restoration but I think it's cool and rare.

That is rare. If I got it, I'd restore the cart and convert it to a coal burner using a bight color kettle with integrated brackets and gas-assist harvested from a newer Performer.
I'd box up the beat up old kettle and gas parts and sell along with the grill to the next owner if they wanted to restore it to it original state.

I didn't know you'd consider it as an "investment or collectors" piece. That being said than it's like a lot of other things people collect. The value is in the "having" not the "selling". And for that I guess I could see it. Hell I have a Motorola Golden Voice TV/HiFi system from 1947 in my basement. My dad's oldest brother went to work for Motorola right after WWII and in 1947 they'd brought out their first TVs. So he, my dad and the middle brother pooled their money and bought one as a present for my grandparent's 25th wedding anniversary.
I remember watching all the Sunday shows on that giant 12" screen when I was a kid. So I get the collector factor. I assumed you'd want to flip it

That's a really cool story Larry thank you for sharing.
I just like different things and can't always explain why I have appreciation for certain things. I do like a lot of different types of vintage things that were built right and built to last. Some stuff has a story behind it like your story and some don't. I may try to sell one of my classic Webers but that's not really what I do. I mostly flip newer Webers and put that money into my own personal keeps from 1985-1999.

I wish I could get it! $180 is a little steep, but that is a very rare piece of Weber history. One last gasp for the gas kettle snd the beginnings of the Performer.

You have to be getting to or already surpassed the point where you don't really need any more of these. You can be a lot more selective now and just ignore ads like that one, it's a nothing special grill anyway.

Not sure I could either. I have been thinking about it because I want to buy the unused Jr. For sale. If I was anywhere near New York would have already bought it. Shipping is the biggest obstacle
