I'm thinking your grates come out just a little shinier than mine do, but my main point is that even an average tool can net you above average results if you work at it.Judging by your work it must be pretty darn good!

Absolutely I'm a firm believer in that.I'm thinking your grates come out just a little shinier than mine do, but my main point is that even an average tool can net you above average results if you work at it.
Apparently the really desirable ones have a patent # on the back of them somewhere. I'm no expert on them however.
These ones seem good quality for cast iron but I'm also no expert. Doesn't matter either way. CI isn't for me. I'll put them in my 2000 if I try to sell it.Apparently the really desirable ones have a patent # on the back of them somewhere. I'm no expert on them however.
They aren't my thing either, but you never know when you'll run into one of those cast iron fanatics and you'll be ready for them. I still have a set of cast iron grates from something too that I'm not sure why I'm holding on to them. These ones seem good quality for cast iron but I'm also no expert. Doesn't matter either way. AgreedI have a set as well. If I ever have a guy over to buy a rehab and he mentions he would rather have CI grates, I will oblige him. Some people do really swear by them. But, I find the buyers can't get past the nice shiny silver SS grates.
That's probably why I don't spend the money for the best. The best is definitely wasted on my meager abilities.@Steve Hoch
A person could have the nicest fanciest most expensive tools and still no guarantee of quality work. The Craftsman behind the tools is far more important than the tool itself
From what I have seen you have ample abilities. Whatever you're doing it's workinThat's probably why I don't spend the money for the best. The best is definitely wasted on my meager abilities.
Yep, I can take apart a grill and put it back together again with hardly any leftover parts anymore. I'm still shooting for zero! From what I have seen you have ample abilities. Whatever you're doing it's workin
Your buyer doesn't care about the grates? Bonus.Well, I think I sold the performer. Taking the grates back to the hardware store tomorrow![]()
You must remove it. Sanding will take a bit of work and you need to remove the bubbling chrome from the edges.
My friend’s neighbor wheeled this out to the curb yesterday. He called me and I asked him to stash it until I could come get it. I went and got it about 15 minutes ago. Far and away the cleanest bottom panel I’ve seen on a propane version of the 310. I may have to move this to the front of the line, and see if I can move it before Memorial Day. The damage on the left door is the only flaw on this grill.
It should be held on to the lid with two little clips from the back of the lid. You need to pry them off and then get new ones to put it back on.How do you remove the Emblem ? Heat gun and dental floss or fishing line ?
What did you use to adhere it back onto the BBQ after you cleaned it up ?
Thanks for the tips !

The front of the cook box where the burner tubes go through tends to start rusting out on those models and it gets quite bad. As long as your grill doesn't suffer from that you may have something there. It's crazy that people throw these things out, especially given the price of a new one.
I bought a used Summit 650 for $100 sight unseen except for some pictures. I received it today and it is in great shape. Owners said the burners didn't work anymore. Of course they didn't... they were covered with 1/2" of grease. Can't even see the slots in them. How grease got under the flavor bars is beyond me.
I'll post some pictures of it in a couple days.
