I will just leave this here

I hoped he or Steve may try to make a move on it! This warms my heart!
I had my chance. I'm in the middle of remodeling my walk in closet so going to pick up a grill wasn't too high on my list at the moment. I think those 5000's are cool, but never really wanted one that badly as I much prefer a Genesis 1000. I know that Paul will give it a proper home so that's good.

It's a very light gray almost white stain or possibly paint on the regular wood slats. Most likely Maple wood.
Here is a close up of one of mine in line for restoration.

Thanks Josh, I guess I will see soon enough what condition the paint is but it looks like something that looks great fresh out the box but I wonder how durable the look is longer term. I do think it works well with the grey hood though.

You're welcome Paul, I'm going to go the opposite direction with my gray lid and use dark Brazilian Walnut for contrast with the lid.

Paul, that finish is going to be pretty close to a gray deck stain and I'm sure it will need to be redone, especially the handle if it's even salvageable.

Stand down guys, I've got this from here......
Paul,
Very glad you are rescuing this one. I know you will make it look like new again. :coolkettle:

As usual, work and family issues have gone against me, but here is one teaser picture of the gas kettle cart grill in progress. When I finally get closer to completion (Spring?🥵), I will start a full thread.

I think you are probably right on the flip aspect, Cody, although I know @Bruce restored and flipped one. Maybe he can weigh in. To me, this is more of a collector gem like what @Mark AU has done with his. It would certainly be a nice centerpiece if you have room for grills just to look at.
I would definitely say a collectors item. It was pretty cool, none of the Weber representatives had seen one in the flesh and a couple had no idea it came with glass doors from factory
