I also use the torch to light smoke tubes.

This is what I already have. I just wanted to try something more compact but I could definitely see the longer reach being more effective on some grills.

I have one of those “weed burner” torches, but I never thought of using my propane turkey frier burner under a charcoal starter. That’s pretty cool - actually hot - and I am sure runs circles around using a couple starter cubes!

For lighting coals the burners in the performers do an admirable job. I could see if you wanted an expedited lighting to use a torch. I’ve always been interested in the torches more for their searing capabilities.
