I will just leave this here

I think that is just layer of grease and carbon that typically collects on the control panel along the cook box. That is worse than usual however.

I took two truck loads of parts grills to the dump today. Got rid of everything between 2000-2016 plus a couple Spirits and a Summit. Just kept some Genesis ii parts. Pretty much done flipping at least for now. I have about 15 first and second generation Genesis and Genesis Jr. in line for restoration so next up I'm going to build some more Keepers. I have two Genesis 1000s planned out and a Genesis Jr. Not sure which I will start first. I have a lot of IPE Ironwood "Brazilian Walnut" that I'm going to be using for slats and handles. After I build my Forever grills I'll build out the rest of them probably to donate to people that will appreciate them.
I'm excited about it. I've been looking forward to clearing out the last of the flips to get back to building some keepers.

Congratulations on thinning the herd Josh! We need good role models.:)

I'm looking forward to some beautiful keepers in the coming months!

It wasn't easy taking two truckloads away but I feel a lot better having some space back to work on my upcoming projects.
My keepers will probably come together fairly slowly depending on the time I have. I don't like to rush. No hurry no shortcuts just finishing out one small project to the next until the grill is completed. I'll post threads for them with progression updates.

I really need to do that too

Edit - most of the junk I had I’ve gotten rid of. Just hard to find the time to get to them. Hard to do much with an hour here and there. I like to go start to finish when I do a frame. Have a couple cookboxes ready to go. Now I just need to get some frames painted.

Not a lot of pics to discern condition - but it appears to be in good shape for a somewhat reasonable price....

Those grills are used in scams on FB all the time. Usually they are priced way less, but maybe scammers are realizing that people have associated "Too good to be true" listing with scams.

I think that one is likely legit, but does look like the scammer ones. Still wouldn’t want it!
One tell that I see is the photos of the grill are clearly in two different locations. Similar, but not the same. Fence and shrubbery is different in the back ground. And that is not some grill you just shove from one side of the patio to another.
