I will just leave this here

Well welcome to my world. Especially when I saw it against the so called "new and improved". Nah, gimme old and reliable. Of course listen to me and driving some "new fangled electric car" :D
I understand, my two gas grills are both older models (1999 Genesis and a 2006 Summit) and most of my Kettles are secondhand, though I do purchase a newer grill once every once in a while (Like the Blue 70th Anniversary Kettle from a few years ago - it kinda became my daily driver, though I gotta give it a good cleaning soon.)

You’re talking the lighter blue kettle? Glen Blue I believe? If I ever hit the lottery, I would have a genesis lid redone in that color!

Yes, though Weber labeled the color for the 70th Anniversary Kettle as "Rock N' Roll Blue." Can confirm it is a slightly different shade of blue compared to the actual Glen Blue color used on both classic kettles and the 2020 26 inch Kettle.

So the left is the 70th Anniversary Kettle and the right is the Glen Blue 2020 Kettle. Color-wise, it's VERY close, but the Glen Blue is a bit darker shade.

And, yes, that's me grilling in the first photo XD

Thank you! Now it is a daily driver and looks the part. A joy to cook on, though. And after all that’s what they are for :coolkettle: !
You're very welcome Jon! I can only imagine the fun you're having with it XD If you don't mind, would you be okay with me using an image or two of your Summit restoration in the Weber Product Suggestions Project I am currently working on if you got full credit for your images/restoration?

That looks to be in incredible shape. I have only seen pics of that style sideburner. I agree with John about the lid logo. I didn’t know blue was available on that early of the Genesis. I see the black knobs and also has the “bracket” style fuel gauge. If that is all original stuff I’d think it’s somewhat of an oddity.

I'm not too sure that lid came on that grill originally.

Maybe a grill made in the transition between designs or a side burner added on later?

Pretty nice with that blue hood, but the AF logo spoils that for me.
Looks like that is the American Frozen Foods logo, so I guess Weber made a special edition grill for them? I think I have actually seen one like this before a LOOOONG time ago. Might be a rarer grill with that...

Bingo! Turns out AFF is a Connecticut based company that sells primarily frozen meats and poultry, however they do still sell Weber grills on their site - and it looks to be all gassers. Guess that explains why they'd have a custom Genesis made for them to sell back in the 80's and 90's!

Yep, I've seen pictures of a few of them myself. If I remember correctly though, they were all slightly newer models with durawood slats. That's why I don't think this particular grill came that way. I of course could be mistaken. This is where a chat with the owner could be helpful.

Maybe this was an earlier model or even a prototype of that grill? Who knows? I would certainly be interested in grabbing it, but alas, I live in Texas, not Michigan.
