Revisiting this post from a couple of weeks ago to add some fresh info. I got my hands on a new #7509 igniter and set about to measuring the included washer. I found the ones pictured here on eBay for $3.79 landed for a pack of 10. Sizing is M18*25*0.5. They are a perfect fit for both ID & OD but are not stepped and are therefore only about half the height of the OEM washer. Stacking 2 of the new washers solves the problem perfectly so for less than 4 bucks I have an on-hand solution for at least the next 5 rehabs using aftermarket igniters where the washer is not included. I can’t imagine there are too many of us dealing with this on a regular basis, but I felt compelled to document it for posterity while hopefully saving someone else the headache down the road. Some X000 grills require them as a top spacer otherwise the igniter sits too low and won’t cycle under the push button. No clicky = no lightly.
It’s embarrassing when a client shows up to purchase or pick up a grill and you’re so smug with confidence in your handiwork that you “just know” everything is good to go. Then you try to test fire it in front of them and wind up looking like some rookie fool. Ask me how I know…
Thanks Tom! Nice work! I ended up looking at a lot of different options but I didn't get a chance to try anything. Thank you for putting in the work. I appreciate it.Revisiting this post from a couple of weeks ago to add some fresh info. I got my hands on a new #7509 igniter and set about to measuring the included washer. Where is your sense of "adventure"?I saw someone who has one of these on their front patio that lives just outside of my town. Part of me wants to go up to their door and just ask them if I could see it. My curiosity of them needs some quenching.
But at the same time, I’m also not a fan of getting shot at![]()
I have some big Weber stickers that I've been planning to try and make special propane tanks instead of using the Weber covers which are nice and fine I think but I wanted to try something new. These stickers would be extra cool though. Those would be some cool stickers to have for special builds (Keepers).

These stickers would be kind of cool to replicate for propane tanks on Weber restorations

Wow that's awesome Jon!! I will definitely buy some off you if you put them up for sale.Josh,
That is one on my “want to do” list, especially since I picked up a pretty decent gas kettle this fall that I want to restore.
I also agree it would be a great way to doll up a grill in lieu of a cover. Lots of history there.
I will try to work on it soon.
