I will just leave this here

I didn’t. The cook box when I took the bolt out holding it to the frame, the area surrounding the nut on the inside of the box disintegrated. Last night the wife got after me about all the grills. It was trash night so to appease her I threw some stuff away. The small grease tray and the handles (also smaller) went bye bye. Shoot me.

Gotcha. I have a Genesis 1000 cook box sitting on the side of the house that is degraded in that area too. It's not through anywhere, but the metal is noticeably thinner in about a 5" diameter circle surrounding the hole for the bolt. I was just wondering what the problem was. So it sounds like you picked this grill up thinking the parts were interchangeable with the full size model.

I did. And last night when I set them side by side I got discouraged. On top of the not good news of my moms health condition, I screwed up 🤦🏻‍♂️

I wouldn't call it screwing up. I would call it a learning experience.I think we've all picked up grills that didn't work out for one reason or another, I know I have. I think you mentioned it was free, so nothing lost but your time. I hope your mom will make a full recovery 🙏

Does anybody know anything about Saber brand Grills?
I do like nice little two burners but I'm looking for one for my sister-in-law this time. She wants a small barbecue for her small upper deck area. I really don't want to pick up a newer Spirit. I know I can get a used one for free or cheap but I feel like their life expectancy is quite short and they don't have a very quality feel to them. I really like my Genesis ii LX 240 but those are rare and hard to find only being made for a short period of time. This Saber grill retails for about $1,300. I think I can get this used one that looks to be in pretty good condition for under $100 but I don't know anything about them so I'll have to do some research but it looks decent. I really like to stick with Weber so it has to be a really good Grill at a really good deal otherwise. If anyone has any information about Saber it would definitely be helpful.

If this grill doesn't work out, a q300 or q3000 would be an excellent choice for a small grill. I've set the grates from my q300 onto my Genesis Gold and other than rounded edges it's the same amount of cooking space. Just a much more compact overall grill, and really built well. Looks like it should be nearly indestructible. Nearly 😜

I'm definitely trying to pick up a Q series. I have my eye out

They are great grills, but not so great flippers...at least around my area. People like them, but you just can't usually rehab them and sell them for a good enough profit to make it worth while.
Not looking to flip it so no worries there and probably holding out for q2800n. Shouldn't have passed up the last one.

Well, my fall and winter calendar just filled up quite a bit. My son made the basketball team! This just put a huge damper on my grill fixing time. But I’m good with it! Just have to dial up my focus when I have the time!
There will always be time to work on grills even if it gets put off for a bit. Congratulations to your son and making the basketball team! Enjoy that quality family time while supporting your son. It's a blessing to have that time with your son and family. Before you know it they are all grown up. Besides the fact that you get to enjoy that quality family time this also teaches your son by your actions on how to be a good father and husband someday. So yeah it's a bummer that there is less time for grills for now but I think you have something better to look forward to and with all the Amazing ideas you come with just think how awesome these grills will come out when they are finished.

We have a little of the same thing here chasing around with our grandson and his soccer. I gotta be up and outta here way early in AM so I can get the kid, picked up and then bring him out to the soccer field. And again on Sunday

Thanks guys. After he got cut last year, telling him he was cut was the most gutting thing I’ve ever done in my whole life. He could’ve given up, but he put in a lot of work, busted his tail and practiced on his own a lot this summer. So I’m so damn proud of him! We need all the good mojo and vibes we can get right now as my mom’s outlook is not promising, but today was very uplifting.

I know this isn’t grill related, but I appreciate all of you and your insights, encouragement, and enabling of Weberitis!

Well hang in there. Know full well what it's like with ailing parent(s). Right now we deal with our dad. Pretty much al of it falls on sister and I. Long story there. All I can do is just say "hang in there"

I can tell you're a good family man Cody. I have no doubt that your son gets those excellent qualities from his dad and they will serve him well in life.
