I will just leave this here

I actually have one of those fully disassembled and begging for me to do something with it. Mine is short some of those cast iron grates. They are not the size Broilmaster makes now, so they are a tough find. I would be tempted myself, just to get enough parts to make one complete one. The rotisserie and grates are worth that price alone.

The sad thing is that even a super unique old Broilmaster like this is a tough sell. I don't know if it would make enough difference if it were fully restored.

Have to agree Jon. The newer Broilmasters are even a somewhat tough sell to most folks simply because they're not Webers. Even the newer Broilmasters are tougher to get parts for than Webers of the same vintage. So someone doing a little research might be deterred. Finding OEM grates or burners for this monster is probably impossible. You'd have to be adept at grill restoration(kind of the choir I'm preaching to here) to realize the potential of that baby.

John, if you collect enough of those free Summits you should be able to put together at least one nice one!
I am thinking along the lines of what @DanHoo mentioned a while back- carefully gut the grill for a refurb at a later date, and turn that beautiful carcass into a beverage center.

In my spare time…lol

I have a question about the Jr., Something I just noticed. My Genesis 1000 grills have two separate lower tables consisting of six slats each. That Jr. has a total of fifteen slats and no discernible to my eye of separate grouping. Can anyone shed some light on that set up? I'm curious.

I am quite sure from what I remember seeing them in the flesh they have one larger lower rack rather than 2 small ones

BANNING GAS GRILLS Keeps Coming Up:oops:

Here's another dismaying article about the demise of using a propane grill in your backyard (and even a gas furnace in your house!) You have to wonder where things will be going in the grill world. Maybe Weber sees this coming and decided they needed a flashier electric entry with the new Lumin.

I could say something but I know it would get me banned for life

I was going to post something quite similar to Larry saying I need to shut up on this. Out of respect for Chris and the other forum members, I will do so. But, like my guns, don't come to my house and try to take either my Genesis or my Walther PPQ away or you will have a problem.

Amen

As a NY'er and one who is heavily involved in the home heating trade, I can chime in with some fill-in information on this while hopefully keeping my personal opinions out of it. In NYS, governor Kathy Hochul is backing a ban on the sale of fossil fuel based heating equipment beginning in 2030 for single-family homes and smaller buildings. This proposal does not include gas stoves, according to the governor’s office, but she has separately endorsed a prohibition on fossil fuel equipment in new construction statewide that would include gas stoves with new dates of 2025. Any ban on gas stoves wouldn’t apply to existing homes and no one is currently planning to come and take our gas stoves or BBQ grills away just yet. It's still a terrifying thought, though...
