How does one remove the old black paint on the firebox and endcaps

I mostly use the stuff on end caps that I have had blasted. I do not use any primer.

Here is the instructions for the paint:

PAINTING CONDITIONS
Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open
garage. Use when temperature is between 50ºF (10ºC) and
90ºF (32ºC) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper
drying. Priming is not recommended. Do not use on metal
directly exposed to open flame or in direct contact with food,
such as a grill grate. Avoid application in very windy and
dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from
spray mist.

More progress on the right-side end cap.
Question? Do you remove the temperature gauge holder during this process. Is it even removable or is that unnecessary?

I noticed when using impact driver that it was hard to Strip the powder coated paint on the end caps. I bought today a paddle grip angle grinder and the wire wheel that Bruce recommended to do the firebox. I thought I might need something more aggressive to do all the Surface area on the firebox. Does anyone have pics of what a Firebox looks like when stripped with an angle grinder.

I just did a quick scrape with a putty knife. However, if I was to do one these days, I would definitely hit it with a good pressure washer before I broke out the grinder.

This firebox is off my Silver C cabinet style grill. When you do those do you remove the firebox, or do you find it is more easily done with the firebox installed?
