Here is my 2025 grill that i will be restoring, Genesis 1

Ok, took all 3 valves apart, only one at a time.
That way, you always have one that's used as a reference putting one back together 😁
Yes, I put one back together wrong, had to take one apart that I knew was correct and then saw my stupid mistake ☺️
Anyway, all are cleaned and ready for the new looking powdercoated manifold when I get it back.

Jon, I wish I had someone looking over my shoulder while I was taking my first valve apart 😁
For me personally it feels good to learn new things. Maybe trial and error but now it's one more thing you can be confident in doing. Maybe it's just one small thing but all those things add up. I can't do everything but I love an opportunity to learn something new. Relying on people or asking for help isn't easy for me so the more things I can do for myself the better. When someone is willing to teach me how to do something for myself I'm extremely grateful.

I'm thinking of having the cookbox and lid sides powdercoated satin.
The powdercoater guy says I need about 3 pounds of high heat powder.
But seeing how black is a way more common color, maybe it won't cost 80 bucks a pound 🤔
I'll get with him next week and see just exactly how much the powdercoating will cost.

I can't believe I didn't think of it before but I'm going to high heat paint my next Cookbox and lid end caps with a low nap paint roller 3/16"-1/4" nap. I bet this will replicate the factory texture perfectly. If it works as good as I think it will I'll probably go over all my finished grills also. I'll test some different rollers to find what matches the factory texture.

That could look really good too, but you can't get the high heat ultra in the can as far as I know.

You might consider reaching out to @JimV . This is how he does his rehabs, I think. He defuzzes the rollers first or some such.

I think if I was going to get anything powder coated I would just get everything done, the wire racks, zbars, the tank scale, etc.
Yes, them small items will be powdercoated satin black.
But they won't get powdercoated with high heat powder, like the cookbox and lid end caps will.
And then only if the price of the powder is cost effective.
Last time I checked with him about the high heat powder, he said I had to buy 3 pounds minimum, that was for the SS Platinum cookbox, so I decided against it.
