I would be totally stressed about standards. I can just imagine myself nitpicking their work and them telling me it's just a barbecue.
Thats exactly what happened to me

I can just see Josh now. Wire Wheeling a blasted cookbox.
Yeah, what a let down having to fix their work.I sanded and repainted my powdercoated end caps ...
because they are like museum quality! Why would I get mad? Yes I plan on cooking on them.
Well I appreciate that and I take it as a very nice compliment! Now if I can just cook at the level of some of you guys then I'll be doing pretty good lolbecause they are like museum quality!
Thanks Bruce! Looks pretty goodWow nice pick up
Yep, I can tell from the wheels that's what it is. Nice. Now that I have it in the light it's not a 2000 or a 3000. It's a Genesis 2 and the owner added a side burner
The 92-year-olds original owner told me she added the side burner. What a find! We’re going to need some better pictures!
Why do you think they added a side burner? I thought that Weber had sideburners as an option back in the day.
You could buy the side burner separately and add it yourself. I still come across NIB side burners on marketplace and OfferUp occasionally that people bought and never bothered to install. I've never seen much use for one but still kind of neat. The 92-year-olds original owner told me she added the side burner.
Another way you can tell that grill is really old are the frameless igniter switches in the control panels. The hinge for the switch is built into the bottom of the control panel, very early production.Wood looks pretty good. She said it was always under cover.

Control panel is still dirty but looks like it will come out nice. I noticed no model # on it. Genesis 2 must not have model # on control panel?

Drip pan and grease tray look nice too. Cover is in good condition and the propane tank that came with it is full.
I did notice that. I think I remember you telling me that before.Another way you can tell that grill is really old are the frameless igniter switches in the control panels. The hinge for the switch is built into the bottom of the control panel, very early production.
It will be interesting to see if you can narrow down the year of it by the gas certification date on the info sticker and the casting mark inside the lid end cap.I did notice that. I think I remember you telling me that before.
