Thank you very much!Gorgeous work. Gotta laugh. You said "Horseshoe" shims and then I thought "yikes what doesn't this guy do". Assuming you actually did Ferrier work on the side
Not my horse. I am scared of horsesThank you very much!
If your horse throws a shoe I got you covered
I hear you there. I grew up on a farm primarily dairy farm but had horses and just about everything else. I prefer motorized transportation. Not my horse. I am scared of horses
You're welcome for anything I may have said or done to help. That's great to know and I appreciate it!
You can steal my thunder any time! Your help and your tips and tricks and your RH flip table assembly helped make it all possible so thank you Steve
They scare me a little bit too. I've ridden a couple of horses where I definitely didn't feel like I was in charge of what was happening. Not my horse. I am scared of horses
Thank you Steve! Anything worth doing is worth doing right.Yes, you can always put it back to original if the mood hits you to do so. I also want to mention that you did a great job matching the grain of that wood along with getting the spacing right on all the tables. Those are not small details.
I thought you would make a more traditional handle, but that one looks really good too.I made 3 handles and they all turned out so good it was hard to decide.
I still want to try to make a traditional one. I have 4 pieces left. 2 finished and two unfinished raw.I thought you would make a more traditional handle, but that one looks really good too.
Practice on a piece of wood you don't care about first.I still want to try to make a traditional one. I have 4 pieces left. 2 finished and two unfinished raw.
I have a 5th piece that's warped so that would be perfect.Practice on a piece of wood you don't care about first.

So I had a vision and I wanted to see it through. I'm really happy with how it turned out. It turned out exactly how I wanted it to. That said I really like this 1000LX in its original form with the gray Durawood equally as much. I have all the original Durawood in its original z-metal and if I restore a worthy grill I may put this wood on it and put the original Durawood back on this one. Either way I love this grill. I wish I could share my results with @Rich Dahl. This one's for you Rich
Thank you Cody! The character of the wood is remarkable. Gorgeous restoration, Josh! It’s a true beauty, with either real wood or durawood.
You should throw a redhead on it, with the wood slats and take a pic. Personally, I think the redheads look way sharper with the real wood than any other color (blue included).
I don't know, I think a black lid with real wood is pretty sharp too.The character of the wood is remarkable. Gorgeous restoration, Josh! It’s a true beauty, with either real wood or durawood.

I did, and it looks great that way too. I don't know why, but the bright red lids don't appeal to me too much. I do like the maroon ones though.Damn right! Did you see my edit and picture added above?
