Green Genesis 1000LX Build

Question for anyone who has made their own custom wood slats or is considered-

Did you make the bottom wood slats a little bit longer?
I noticed the distance between frame rails is just a little bit more on the bottom making it so they're able to slide around a little bit and get crooked and also scratch the frame a little bit from sliding around.
I like how the upper tables fit snug.
So I'm thinking about cutting my lower slats just a little bit longer so they fit snug like the top tables.

Any thoughts?

Bothers me when they slide around and get crooked like this and don't line up with each other. wondering if anyone else even notices or even cares.20240716_075214~2.jpg

This will be my number one keeper forever. I still have new wood coming for slats and new SS Z-metal and SS flip table brackets coming from David Santana.

After I get a few finished I'm sure I'll be able to part with some of them but not this one.
I’m curious as to how he will make the hinge (?) brackets. They, as originally built, are lots more complicated to make than Zbars.

Absolutely. Currently working on my little Junior and made them 15-5/8" and the tops are 15-1/4"... also chamfered the edges and they seem to be a good "snug" fit. Here's a few teaser pics.

Here are RC Planer table brackets and his Z-metals powder-coated black after assembly.
Note I used a 1/4" SS rod to make a new hinge pin
SS Pan head screws are 9 years old from last rebuilt, I put them in an ultrasonic cleaner with simple green came out new. All the nasty screws and plastic came out clean with no rust or scrubbing needed.

I also had RC Planer create a pair of 16GA SS drip pan rails, which he does not make so those were time and material still very reasonable for sheet metal shot time.

Almost done with only the drip pan to clean, and then time to get messy with some burgers this week.

I can't wait to see it!!!

Obviously they are all supposed to be the same length, but nothing wrong with making them a touch longer for a snug fit.
