Genesis Silver B Restoration - From Japan to Texas

I was hoping to get some grinder time in tonight but a bad storm popped up. So I decided to just work on cleaning the lid in my shower. I updated the first page with a picture.

On a side note how many cans of paint do you usually go through paint the grill?
Was hoping to start that but now I am waiting for the humidity to go down.

The wife will allow as many grills in the shower as I want. But if I try to bring girls in the shower she may start having some issues. ;)
You guys had me cracking up in the store as I was reading this.

But I will say this item in my shower sure does have some nice curves!!!!

Chris: "honey, I am bringing another girl, I mean grill into the shower".
But seriously, Why don't you use the garden hose outside? I would think those girls you bring in would leave water rings in the shower.

I think I would much rather have girls than grills though not sure I would live through it. Like the dog that catches the car I guess but I can dream

Haha! It is funny as sometimes when I talk about grills it sounds like a said girls.
I would have use a hose outside but the storms were crazy last night. The wind was so strong it was blowing the rain under my 10ft patio covering into the living room when I opened the backdoor to grab the lid. Fences and trees in the are got blown down.

I finally started to paint some of my pieces today! Can not wait to see the finally look as I am using a high heat metallic that should sparkle in the sun.
Also I used a ultra high heat 2000 degree primer to start with. I figured that would help with some of the surface rust areas to help smooth it a little more. We will see....

Well I had to test the paint. I need another coat and some sanding to get the mark out on the right side where I got a little deep on the cleanup. :(
But this looks amazing in the sun. The pics don't do it justice!

Would it be bad if I left it all black? With a blue hood it would look so sweet. :)

From the picture maybe my eyes, does not look black but I like it. I would still use the various sanding methods in the thread on how to do it and bring it down to the original finish with the black in the background. Whats the worst that can happen you think it looks better the other way just repaint it.

Yea I was thinking that earlier. Really easy to repaint so no big deal.

I also agree with you on the color. It is called black matallic but is more of a shiny dark dark grey. Like a graphite.
I think if I would have laid down a Black over the grey primer it would look a little more black. But I like the shine it has.

VHT black pearl metallic engine paint.
Autozone had a special that was 2 for $12 so I picked up two cans.

My only fear is it is only rated for 650 degrees so I may do my firebox in something diff. Hoping that with the primer it will be fine since the primer is rated for 1200.
I hope to be up and grilling late next week so I will let everyone know how it holds up!

I could not find it on autozone website so here it is on another site.

Why not sand off the logo and hit it with high temp clear? I think that would be very classy

Yea I will try that also. Going to try a couple things and see what looks best. ;)

I did have a proud moment last night.
This bolt had become one with the cook box and I was worried about how it is going to come out. After thinking about it for some time I decided the best route was not just try to bank it out. :) So I took the dremel from the inside and went around the bolt with a small tool. It took me a couple mins and came out perfect! Now I can run a bolt and nut with a washer through this and it will look clean. Usually things don't work out this good for me but I stopped and did not rush anything. Seems to work better than just trying to rush through things. Who would have thought? HAHA
